Mary rushed over to her son. She kneeled down on one side of him. She calmly stroked his hair trying her darndest to calm him down. She gently put him in her lap, rocking him back and forth. She whispered soothing things into his ear.
Mary then noticed the med bottle in his hand. Benji was so out of it, he didn't realize that she took it out of his hands. She read the antidepressant label and saw that it was empty.
"I want Cal," Benji said through sobs and gasps, Mary nodded and kissed him on his temple,
"Of course baby, just please calm down. Take a deep breath with me." she exsacturated a deep breath in through her nose and out through her mouth, for her son to copy. He did and finally calmed down. He was only now hiccuping and softly sniffling. He dug his head into his mom's neck.
"Please don't leave me, I'm scared," he mumbled,
"Of course baby, I'll never leave your side. Sorry, I didn't notice that you were running low." she kissed him on his forehead. "Can you walk babe?" She looked at him in the eyes, he nodded.
She helped him stand up and walk to his bed. She laid him down and pulled the comforter up over him. She also gave him his giant turtle softie. She sat on the bed, rubbing Benji's side soothingly. She grabbed Benji's phone, dialing Cal's number.
"Hey Bean what's up?" Cal asked,
"Hey Cal, it's Benji's mom. Benji isn't having a good day, he ran out of his meds. I can't get a refund till tomorrow. Will you be a dear and come over to help him. He asked for you to come." Mary explained,
"Ok, I'll be there..." he checked the clock on his wall, "like 10 minutes."
"Thank you so much, I have no idea what I'll do without you." she gave a sad chuckle, "See you then." with that they hung up.
Cal knocked on the apartment door 10 minutes later, Brit let him in, with her mom's persimmon first. They hugged for a few seconds before Brit ran back to her room. No one told her what was happening so that's why she was so chill.
He made his way up to Benji's room seeing a broken Benji and a concerned Mary. Benji was curled up in a ball under his covers, holding the stuffed turtle like it was a lifeline. Cal walked over to the bed, Mary thanked him and made her way downstairs to clean up Brit's snack and to put Benji's snack on the counter for later.
Cal sat on the right side of the bed. "Hey Bean, your mom told me what happened." he gently kissed Benji's head. "I love you, you know that right?" Benji nodded his head, still not looking up at Cal.
"Can we cuddle? I'm scared." Benji mumbled,
"Of course Bean." Cal took off his shoes and climbed into the bed, behind Benji. "I love you, so much, words will never describe my love." Cal spooned Benji.
"I wove you too." Benji gave a cute yawn before finally feeling safe and fell asleep. Cal smiled, kissing Benji's hair. He fell asleep soon after Benji. Maybe things will look up for them soon. Well for now things are looking up.
