"Hey you two!" he said happily,
"Hey Benj." Maddie and Lucy sat next to him, Maddie in the middle. Benji looked over and saw Maddie looking down his shoulder shaking ever so slightly. Benji wrapped his arm around her and pulled her close. He shoved her head into his chest gently.
"Shh, I know you were busy." he gently stroked her brown hair. Now you may be thinking, do they like each other, no. They've known each other since they were in diapers, so they are basically siblings. She also knows that he is gay and has a crush on Cal.
"I'm sorry, I should've been there for you!" she sobbed into his chest,
"I know, I forgive you." he smiled, "You had management duties for the team, the team goes first." he hugged her tighter,
"I was scared the whole time you were gone." she looked into his eyes,
"I know me too, but I'm better now, promise." he smiled back to her. She collected herself and sat up. She wiped her tears off, she gave him a smile. With his hand still on her back rubbing circles on it, she gently laid her head on his shoulder. They watched the other players starting warmups.
"OMG guys!" Lucy had tears peeking out of her eyes, "I'm going to cry!" she turned the other way and wiped them.
"Oh Lucy, come here, I know you missed me too." Benji opened his free arm and she ran over and hugged him.
