Shattered

After Nurse Kate finished she left the three of them in the room. Benji was softly crying and curled up in a ball under his covers, his mom was still running her hands through his hair.

"Benj? Can I snuggle?" Brit asked sweetly, her brother smiled at the question and opened his arms for her climb in with him. She gladly went and snuggled against Benji. He wrapped his arms around her and hugged her tightly. Soon she fell asleep in his arms and he smiled and nuzzled more into the bed. Now he was asleep. Their mom just smiled and laid her head on the bed, she fell asleep. An hour or so passed and there was a soft knock at the door, this made Benji's mom wake up, she rubbed the tiredness out of her eyes and got up to answer the door. She cracked it open to see Tyson, Cal, Jake, Max, Rin, and a few others at the door. She quickly stepped out and shut the door behind her carefully, she didn't want to wake up Brit or Benji.

"Hey Mrs. Withers." Tyson said,

"Oh please, call me Mary."

"Oh ok, can we see Benji?" Jake asked,

"I'll go ask him, I'll be right back." she crept back into the room and left the door cracked. The boys peeked through the crack to see Benji snuggling his sister, they all thought how adorable the sleeping kid was. His mom gently shook him awake, he sat up trying not wake up Brit,

"Hey there are a few kids from the team that want to see you."

"Oh ok." he rubbed the tiredness out of his eyes and he gently shook Brit awake. She jumped up almost slapping Benji in the process,

"Whoa there, calm it!"

"Oops sorry Benj."

"Whatever, hey go with Mom to get some fresh air and food, I'll be ok don't worry about me."

"But-"

"No buts go." she sighed and jumped out of the bed, she grabbed her mom's hand and walked out of the room. Their mom gave the ok for the team to go into the room. Benji shakly sat up and sat against the wall, he was kinda scared to move because he had multiple wires attached to him on both of his arms. The team walked in, first Tyler with Tyson right next to him, Cal behind them and the rest followed behind.

"Hey guys, how was practice?"

"Good. How are you feeling?" Cal asked, he sat on the end of the bed, hands in pockets. Benji sat indian style on the bed. Everyone surrounded him,

"I'm ok, my fever has gone down and my breathing is back to normal."

"Why are you at the hospital if it's just a fever." Tyson asked very concerned,

"Well," Benji started awkwardly, "I was having trouble breathing after Tyson called me."

Tyson started to go crazy,

"YOU WHAT!?!" he yelled,

"Calm down!" Jake said,

"Are you good now?" Cal asked ignoring Tyson and Jake,

"Yeah, I'll probably just be here overnight, maybe stay tomorrow too. I should be back to school after this week."

"You're gonna be out all week! It's Tuesday!" Max panicked,

"Calm it." Rin slapped him on the head,

"Oh!" Benji said out of the blue, he reached over to his backpack his mom brought over from home to entertain him. He grabbed Cal's jack witch was on top and shoved it into his lap, "Thank you for being there, it meant alot dude.",

"Ye-yeah, I mean it wasn't anything, I was just being nice." Cal stuttered, his cheeks and ears were tinted pink. Max snickered at how Cal was so embarrassed, however his snickering was stopped but getting another slap on the head by Rin.

"Hey! You two knock it off!" Jake said in his team captain voice, this made Benji slightly wince, Cal and Tyson noticed.

"You sure you don't want to tell us anything?" Tyson leaned on the edge of the bed facing Benji,

"I'm sure." Benji mumbled, he was looking at his hands, they were shaking. Benji felt a tear fall down his cheek and then landed on the bedding, he quickly whipped the tear off. Tyson noticed his shaking hands and his tears, and he grabbed Benji's face.

"Hey, you talk to us." he said in a very sweet tone, this made Benji cry a bit harder. Tyson being the nicest person on the team hugged him tightly, Benji buried his face into Tyson's shoulder silently crying. Tyson drew circles on Benji's back until he calmed down.

"You good?" Tyson asked, Benji wiping his tears away nodded. "Ok good, you look tired." he said,

"I'm not that tired." he whispered, Tyson laid him back on his pillow.

"Dude, you look exhausted!" Cal said,

"I guess I'm a little tired."

"Mhm k, we'll leave you alone, we'll visit you after school tomorrow." Tyler said. Everyone shuffled out only leaving Cal and Benji. Cal was about to leave but Benji grabbed his arm tightly. Cal looked back at the scared Benji. He was gripping on his arm tightly, he felt water leak into his sweater. He sat back down next to Benji this time.
