It was the day of Olivia's birthday and Lauren dropped off the dress at Olivia's house before school. Olivia offered her a ride, and it was raining so she took her offer. It was a surprise for everyone when they saw the most popular girl in school with the quite one who hates everyone. Beau was in a state of panic because he thought Lauren preferred Olivia over him.

"Bye Lauren! Thank you for the dress, and you're still coming to the party tonight?"

"Yeah, I'll be there."

"Okay! Just remember to bring a date!"

Lauren nodded as they parted ways. Lauren started to think about who her date would be. She needed someone she gets along with.

Her mind first went to Kasen. But she shook her head. Kasen hated more people than her and he would just sit in the corner the whole time. Also, he wouldn't even bother to look nice, he would probably just look like trash to leave the party earlier.

Next, she thought about Beau, he would be a good fit. He would maybe actually look nice. He also knows people and he wouldn't leave her to go talk with others. He would be glued to her side the whole time.

Lauren nodded to herself as she put her stuff into her locker and headed over to her first period class, or as she called it hell. She hated calculus with a burning passion, she hated it. She didn't understand how some people find it easy.

She set down her stuff and opened her notebook, she started to doodle little mushrooms on the side.

"Lauren" a way to chirpy voice sang as he sat down next to her.

"What."

"Got a date for Olivia's party?"

"Yeah, you." She responded with drawing more mushrooms.

"Huh?"

"Huh?"

"You're taking someone to her party?"

"Yeah, you." She responded with again.

"That's not going to work then."

"Why?"

"Well, I was planning on asking you to her dance."

"Oh my gosh your stupid. I meant 'yes I'm taking someone to the dance, that person is you'" Lauren explained for him.

"Oh!" Beau said a soft pink coating his cheeks. "You could have said that!"

"I did!"

"Whatever, what time should I pick you up by?"

"Probably seven thirty."

"Okay! I'll be at your grandparents house by seven thirty-five" he responded with a double thumbs up.

"Okay" she said.

Humming she finished her mascara, "could be better but whatever." Getting out of the bathroom she finally put on her green dress. She looked in the mirror, she liked it. Matching it with a pair of comfortable black dress shoes.

The doorbell rang and she walked downstairs grabbing her phone. She opened the door to see Beau all dressed up.

"You look nice."

"I always look nice."

"Sure, basketball shorts in the middle of winter always look nice."

"I- That's only when I forget to do my laundry!" Beau exclaimed shoving a rose into her hand, "and uhm thanks for being my date."

"I hate roses" she said before putting it on his suit. "It looks better on you anyways."

"We should get going!" Beau said before grabbing her hand a leading her to the car. Opening her door "a lady should never have to open a door." He walked back around the car and got in.

"Did you really just call me a lady?"

"Is there a problem with that?"

"Nope, just never expected you to call me one, that's all."

"Um okay, I guess? Also, apparently you and Olivia live close to each other, like five blocks away close!" Beau said as he parked the car on the side of the road and got out.

Lauren was shocked, she knew it was a small town but not this small. Beau opened the door for her. "Oh merci."

"Ooo so your using French now?"

"What? No, I wasn't paying attention sorry."

"Whatever let's just go inside. I want to eat the food; I think her parents are chefs" he said grabbing her hand and moving through the crowd of people.

Usurpingly, there were a lot of drunk people already. And Lauren cringed, Beau noticed her face.

"What's wrong?"

"It's only seven forty and everyone's so drunk already. The sun hasn't even set yet!"

"We're not drinking right?" Beau asked.

"I'm not, but if you are, I'm not going to bring you home. I'll just leave you here."

"Ouch, but that's fair."
