Lauren listened and nodded to her grandma as she told her a story about her childhood while they did the dishes. The story was about how she found her best friend and her first boyfriend In the janitors closet together back in 1968.

"He seems such a jerk! I can't believe he would ever do that to you! Your so sweet and kind!" Lauren exclaimed and violently putting the glass plates down to empathize her point.

Her grandma softly smacked her head, "don't break my plates!" she exclaimed and Lauren muttered a 'sorry'. "Now as I was saying, I actually deserved what he did. I'll admit I was a bitch, and I realized it too soon. I tired to apologize but no one listened " she said shrugging while scrubbing the plate. "But when I realized the truth finally the only person that accepted my apology was your grandfather."

"Why grandpa? What made him so special?" Lauren asked while putting away some bowls.

"I don't know, but I the moment I realized he was there for me, I felt as if I was completed. Like we were always meant to be. Then we talked and he told me something very important and then I knew we were meant to be." She said finishing the dishes.

        "What did he say?"

"That is for me to know sweetie."

Lauren frowned but didn't decide to push the topic. Lauren put away the rest the dishes quietly. She headed up the stairs before being stopped by her grandpas voice.

"Where do you think you're going you young lady?" Her grandpa said in a playful tone from the couch.

        "Uh my room?"

"Didn't your grandma tell you? We're going to thanksgiving feast down at the Avery's."

"Who are the Averys?" She asked.

"Some of the most powerful people here. They're filthy rich, but extremely are kind. Probably someone of the best people in this town. They have a company that protects wild life but their main concern are wolves."

"Why wolves? And does that explain the strange words some people say?" She asked.

"Oh um yeah! A lot of the people here works for them! And they use the wolf terms to figure out different roles on sight! It's like a game!" Her grandpa said a little too quickly but she didn't notice.

"Oh thats nice." She said heading back to her room.

"Don't forget to change into something comfortable! We might be there awhile!" He yelled.

Lauren sighed and went to her room. She dressed in jeans and a brown turtle neck, she grabbed a small portable charger, she was not planning on talking to anyone. She went back down stairs and found her grandparents putting on their shoes. She put on hers and followed them into the car.

Within fifteen minutes they were at a huge mansion. But instead of the white polished marble Lauren was expecting, it gave off more of a homely feel. For some reason she felt safe, and she was confused by why she felt it.

Her grandparents went in and greeted others as they went. She followed behind them, many people watched her as she kept her head up, some impressed by her courage. Others wanting to laugh thinking about how fun it would be to brake her and ruin her life.

Lauren paused and wide her eyes before turning around and walking off somewhere else. She couldn't be seen by them. She just wanted to be left alone but when she heard her name be called out from across the house she just wanted to drown herself. She pretended to not here them but her plan failed when they where right next to her.

"Hey Lauren!" Ashley said her black hair flying everywhere she went.

"Bonjour Ashley, how are you?" Lauren said being shocked that she didn't sound fake.

"Im great! I hate these parts though. My parents always says they're good for making relationships with other people and all but it's so boring."

"Wait your parents are the Avery's?"

"Yeah, a lot of people never believe me but it's whatever. But like I want to take over the company if that makes sense. But apparently only Beau gets it, not a 50/50 like I hoped. And Beau probably won't take it that seriously, all he wants to do is have fun and live."

     "Beau?"

"Yeah he's my older brother, or the 'prodigy' of the family. He has the brain, the muscle, everything. He's supposed to take care of the p- company after high school. It's stupid, I work hard and he gets it. It's actually really pathetic but it's fine."

"Well thats actually super unfair. Wheres Beau right now? Maybe we could knock some sense into him so he can share the company!"

Ashley was shocked. She thought Lauren hated her but now it's different. She liked that Lauren is willing to get disowned by a soon-to-be alpha without realizing it. Ashley felt guilty, she liked Lauren. But she knew that she can't help her when people start to hurt her. By helping her she would be jeopardizing her future.

"Ashley? I asked where he is." Lauren said bringing Ashley back from her thoughts.

"Oh! He's currently not here at the moment. He's taking dads place in a meeting, in I think Brazil? He'll come back in a week though"

"Okay! I'll beat him up in a week!" Lauren had no idea why she felt like this. It was extremely different than anything she ever felt. She was unsure about the feeling though and she knew it was maybe just the rush of adrenalin when the name 'Beau' was said.

The two talked through the whole party and she met a few more people through Ashley. She laughed and smiled around the other people. Her thoughts on Ashley changed from annoying to underestimated. And her thoughts on the small town very slowly started to change. Lauren started to think she could possibly enjoy the next six months.

I just want to say happy thanksgiving to all who celebrate this holiday! And to everyone who doesn't have a good day / night as well!
