After a week everyone knew Lauren was either annoyed or just not in the mood to talk. Even though she was human everyone found her unapproachable. Lauren liked that people didn't talk to her, she liked sitting alone. The only people who talked to her were either Ashley, Luke and a guy named Kasen.

Kasen was a quiet person and that was the main reason Lauren enjoyed being with him. Kasen was like Lauren in many ways, both hated almost everyone at the school and never talked. When he first saw her sitting with him at lunch, he was shocked but he grew to like sitting in silence with her.

So when she sat with him on that Wednesday he didn't even look up. All he did was mutter a "hey".

"Hi" she said as she sat down and pulled out an apple. She looked around the room then back to her Apple. She did that ten more times before Kasen got annoyed. Even though he was annoyed he didn't say anything. "Kasen."

"Mhm?" He asked not looking from his phone.

"Do you know Beau? Everyone has been talking about him." She asked.

"Yeah everyone does." He said in his usual monotone voice.

"Can you tell me anything about Beau?" She asked wanting more information.

"Yeah I guess. Well he's like popular I guess. And oh he is Ashley's brother, he's rich and uh that's all I know." He said while eating a goldfish.

"Anything else?" She asked wanting to know more.

"Oh yeah I guess we're friends. He said I'm his best friend I guess." He said before returning back to his phone.

"Are you actually friends or does he just say or friends because he thinks it'll make him cool?" Lauren asked. Kasen shrugged and Lauren knew that the conversation was over.

The rest of lunch was quiet as usual between the two until Kasen spoke up again. "Do you wanna come over to my house after school?"

"Yeah sure. But I'll probably be doing my homework the whole time." She said looking up from her phone.

He shrugged "that's fine. It just gets lonely sometimes."

"Trust me, I know the feeling." She said bitterly then taking a bite of her apple.

After school Lauren and Kasen found each other by the gym. Kasen walked ahead leading the way to his house. As they walked closer Lauren saw the houses becoming more fancy than the last.

Kasen stopped in front of an expensive modern home. The white and black complemented each other beautifully for three stories. She could tell that there wasn't a pool in the back because his house was built on a hill. At the end of the hill was probably the same woods behind her house.

"Nice house, it's big." She said as he opened the front door with the key.

"Yeah I guess. I have a cat somewhere so check before you sit on anything. I kinda like my cat." Kasen said as he took off his shoes.

Lauren nodded and took of her shoes as well. She looked around the house as he lead her to the living room. The tall glass windows made everything seem more open than it was. He stopped and sat on the couch.

"Welcome to my house." He said as he turned on the Tv.

        "It's beautiful."

"Thanks, my mom did all the decorating. She would love to hear you say that."

Lauren sat on the couch next to him and pulled out her math homework. She started to work on it while Kasen started to play Mario cart. The two didn't talk to each other but they found each other's presence comforting.

Putting down her pencil she watched as Kasen finished his race. She laughed as he lost for the fifth time so far.

"If you think you can do better then you play." He said with a little more emotion than his usual monotone voice.

She took the controller from him and picked a track to play. She settled on the easiest looking one because she knew she would probably loose if she did one of the harder ones.

She easily won and smiled before giving the controller back to Kasen, who was angry that she won so easily. He didn't show it though,

"Don't get salty. And it's snowing so should I go home now?" She asked.

Kasen looked out the window. "You should be fine if you want to leave now but it'll get cold. If it gets over six inches I can just drive you home."

        "Oh okay. So what now?"

"I don't know. Want some hot chocolate?"

       "Yeah sure, that sounds nice."

He lead her to the kitchen where he put a teapot on the stove to heat up some water. Lauren got the whipped cream from the fridge and Kasen got the mixture and the marshmallows. The teapot screamed and Kasen turned off the heat and added water to the mugs. Lauren applied the whipped cream and marshmallows.

They both drank they're hit chocolates and sometimes made small talk. But mostly they kept quite. Checking the time Lauren's eyes widened, it was already eight and she would have liked to be at her grandpa house.

"Hey could you drive me home? It's getting late and I should go back." She said.

"Oh yeah of course! I'll go turn off the tv while you get your bag." He said and she followed. She grabbed her bag and turned off the tv. Looking out the huge window by the Tv he saw a lot of snow.

       "How much snow is that?"

"I would say around three feet, how didn't we notice that?"

Shrugging Lauren put her bag back down, "so will school be canceled tomorrow?"

"Definitely unless they want us to walk in maybe four feet of snow if this blizzard gets worse."

       "So what happens to us?"

He shrugged, "I could drive you still but it would take forever because the roads haven't been cleared yet. Or you can stay for the night, there's like four unused rooms and you can use some of my clothes if you want. Or stay in the clothes your wearing. What ever makes your comfortable" he said while taking out his phone.

"Alright give me your clothes."

He left the rooms and she followed him up the stairs and into his room. He gave her some sweatpants and long sleeved shirt. "This good?

"Yup." She said as he left the room so she can change.

Kasen then told her the room next to his is the one she can sleep in. She sat on the bed and looked around. It was an average room with a desk, bed, and window. And a bathroom across the hall.

"So I'm going to be in my room. If your hungry or want anything just come in and tell me."

"Okay, I probably won't eat."

"Same I don't usually eat dinner either. So bye I guess."

He left and Lauren frowned at her phone battery seeing she only had 10% left. She found a charger by the wall though so she took it and plugged her phone in. She got comfortable on the bed as she waited for her phone to charge.

She ended becoming tired of waiting and fell asleep around nine thirty. Earlier than she expected but she was tired.

On the other side of the wall Kasen was texting his friend and telling him not to come over but of course his friend didn't listen. And knocked on the door.
