I stared at my phone, checking again if Logan had read any of my messages. They where all in sent, which meant they had arrived to his phone, he just hadn't read them. I was trying to keep my hands steady, but the nervousness and the pit in my stomach made it impossible to stay still.
I shouldn't be worried. Logan often forgot to charge his phone, it had probably just run out of battery. But still, I needed to talk to him. I didn't feel confortable going to his place, since Roman lived there, we had just broken up, he was probably bad and emotional and all that, and I know that neither he nor I would be able to be around eachother at the moment, so my only chance was to wait and-
Oh shit he has seen them! The messages are now in blue, meaning that he has read them. Now what? He's... He's writing something.
I can see the three dots in the screen. He's taking a long time to type. Come on, what the hell are you trying to say?
Logan: Virgil, is it ok if I call you?
Wait, a call? He wanted to talk by phone? Ok, um...
Virgil: yeah, sure, go ahead
I was about to take a deep breath to prepare myself for the call, when my phone started to ring. Startled, I almost droped it, but I managed to fumble and catch it.
"Hey, Logan, what did you want to talk about...?" I asked, rushing my words more than was normal.
"Sorry I just read the messages, my phone had died," He replied. I smiled to myself, glad that I had been right. There was also a strange sense of pride from correctly predicting him. I forced the feeling away, now wasn't the time.
"Don't worry about it, it's ok," I said.
"So... Roman's broke up with you?" He asked.
I felt my chest constrict a little. Yes it had happened, but hearing it actually spoken was a whole other thing. I nodded instinctively, forgetting Logan couldn't see me.
"Yeah, heh, he- he has..." I gulped.
There was a small pause before Logan spoke again, "...How are you?"
"I- I'm fine," I answered shortly.
"Are you sure? If there's anything troubuling you, tell me, I would like to help you-"
"No, Logan, it's ok, I'm alright, I promise. There's nothing wrong with me. I'm more worried about- him. This hasn't affected me as much, no need to worry."
"Oh, ok. I- I'm glad that you are alright," Logan whispered. I felt something strange in my stomach, something twirling inside it.
"Yeah, I- uh, thank you," I said, instrantly regreting it. Come on Virgil, pull yourself together!
"So... what does this mean for us?" Logan asked.
"Eh- excuse me? What do you mean?" I asked back, feeling my cheecks turn red. The only good thing about phone calls is that Logan couldn't see me acting like a moron.
"I mean that, uh, how are we are we going to do it now? You see, I'm not sure what I'm suposed to do to help Roman, since, I'm not sure what's the protocol, and since we live together it's going to be weird, since I think it's my fault that this has happened and-"
"Logan, wait, slow down, you are starting to sound like me." I chuckled. "And I don't get the deal. Just, try to talk to him, like you are doing with me," I said.
Silence.
"Virgil, no, I- I don't think i can do that. It's just very complicated. Look, I'm not sure if I'm right, feelings aren't my area of expertese, and I may be interpreting this all wrong, but I think Roman... might've broken up with you because of me?"
