Roman and I where in the kitchen. He was cutting carrots, while I was peeling potatoes. He had asked me if I could teach him how to cook, since I was good at it and he hadn't learned at home. Today we were doing a beef stew, and we were planning to invite Logan and Virgil to eat it with us when we finished.

"Wow, there are lots of things that you need to do to make a stew. I thought you just put the ingredients in the pot and that's all!" Roman exclaimed.

"Well, it's basically that, but you can't put the whole carrot, potatoes and meat, they need to be prepared first. You don't want to eat the skin, do you?" I said.

"You are right, Padre. Let's just keep on with this."

What did padre mean? Roman sometimes used some expressions in another language, probably spanish, but I didn't know what they meant. I asked him once, and he told me that his mother was born in Spain, and he had grown learning both languages from a very young age. We kept cutting and peeling, chatting a bit, when I heard the sound of keys.

"Shhhh!" I whispered, "Act normal."

"What's wrong?" Roman asked, also whispering, "Is that Virgil?"

I didn't had time to answer him. The door opened with a slam and we turned to see Virgil rush into his room, closing his door shut behind him.

"Oh boy!" I ran to close the front door and then approached Virgil's room. I softly knocked, "Virge? Can I come in?"

"NO!" He yelled.

"Ok, kiddo. Tell me if you need anything," I walked away from the his door, leaned on the kitchen table and sighed.

"What's into him?" Roman asked.

"It's...complicated? I don't really know, but I have some suspicions," I answered.

"Can you tell me?"

"I'm not sure if I should. This is something to do with Virgil's personal live, and he trusted me with that information for a reason. I don't want to betray him..."

"Come on, Padre! I just want to know, to see if I can help him!" Roman insisted.

"Ok, but promise that you'll not tell him that I told you."

"I promise. My lips are sealed."

"Well," I sighed, "Virgil has a crush on someone of his literature class, and I suggested him that they could go on a study date, to get to know him better. They had planned to go to the starbucks, and maybe later to the library, but apparently something went wrong..." I explained.

"Oh, god. I hope he gets better!"

"Yeah, me too. But he doesn't want to talk now, so the only thing we can do is wait. Shall we continue," I pointed at the food.

"Sure..." Roman picked his knife, I got the peeler, and we continued to make the stew, this time in complete silence.

When we finished preparing the ingredients, we put them all in the pot. We had to wait from eight to ten hours for the stew to be ready.

"So...want to come to my place? We could watch a film or something..." Roman proposed.

"No, thanks. I'd like to stay here, just in case Virgil wants to talk about it later," I answered.

"Oh, right... Hey!" He exclaimed, "I have an idea. You stay here, I'll be back before you know it!"

"Ok..." Roman grabbed his red jacket and ran to the door.

"Be right back!" He said, closing the door behind him.

I had nothing to do while waiting, so I picked up my phone and looked for pictures of cute dogs on instagram. They always had such a cute selection, and it made me remember of when I had a puppy myself. It was still alive, but she lived with my parents, and now that I had moved out, I didn't see her as much as before.

Sudden knocking in the door brought me back. I opened the door to see Roman, heavily breathing, but with a triumphant smile in his face. He had a white plastic bag in his arm. He opened and picked something. I smiled back.

"Chocolate icecream!" I exclaimed. He nodded.

"Yep! This always helps me when I'm feeling down," He explained.

"What a great idea Ro!" I picked the ice-cream and put it in the freezer, while he laid down in the sofa.

"I need some time to rest! I'm exhausted of running over to...!" Roman couldn't finish his sentence. Both him and I heard the noise of an opening door. I turned around, and he stood up to see Virgil come out of his room.

His eyeshadow was smudged all around his face, and his eyes were slightly red. His hair was messy, and his hoodie had some black stains in the sleeves. He walked in silence to the sofa and sat down, Roman mooving to let him more space. He brought his legs close to his chest, and didn't say a thing.

"Virge, kiddo, would you like some ice-cream?" I asked. He nodded. I got the icecream that I had just placed in the freezer and graved three spoons. I approached Virgil and gave him the ice-cream box and one of the spoons, I gave the other one to Roman.

"So...Tell us. What happened?" Roman asked. I punched him softly in the arm. He couldn't just ask Virgil that!

"Janus," Virgil answered, swallowing a spoonful of ice-cream, "He's dating Janus."

"Who's Janus...?" Roman asked. I punched him again.

"He's my ex. We dated when I was around 15. He cheated on me the hole time. Then he started to made fun of me for believing that he actually loved me. Worst year of my live. Then I moved out, and I was wishing that I'd never see him again. But now he's dating him," He explained, between each mouthful of ice-cream.

"Wow. That's...big," Roman said. I was tired of hitting him. He obviously didn't know a thing about shutting up in the right moment.

"Are you feeling better now, kiddo?" I asked Virgil.

"Yeah. I overreacted a bit..." He mumbled.

"No you didn't! If someone overreacts here, it's me! Your reaction is totally normal, Virge," Roman exclaimed, trying to lift Virgil's spirit. He smiled.

"You are right, Princy. You are a drama queen," He smirked.

"You hurt my feelings!" Roman threw himself backwards, placing his right hand over his heart, as if he had been shot. We all laughed, but Virgil but his sleeve in front of his mouth so it wasn't so obvious.

We decided to eat the ice-cream in silence after that. Virgil didn't want to talk much, so we didn't insist more. Roman decided that we needed to watch a Disney movie, since apparently this was his solution to every problem. Virgil decided we should watch The Nightmare Before Christmas, his favourite animated movie. We all cuddled in the sofa, Virgil in the middle, Roman at the left, me at the right. We also ordered pizza. At the end of the evening, Virgil went to his room, without saying almost anything. Roman decided to leave a bit later.

As I say again, I've never been in love, so I've never felt heartbreak. Is this an accurate description? I want my story to be as realistic as possible, so please note me anything is incoherent, to see if I can fixt it without altering the story too much. And until the next time, take it easy, guys gals and non binary pals! Peace out!
