My Song to You

Naruto was both excited and nervous to go to school for the first time. Iruka was walking him there explaining everything that he could to make Naruto smile. It all just made him much more nervous. The two had met other parents walking their kids to school but didn't tag along. They had walked by a mother handing a big lunch bag over to her chubby child. They had walked by a man with long black hair tied behind him in a loose ponytail walking with a kid that could be his twin if it weren't for the fact that the kid's hair was cut. They looked mean in Naruto's eyes.

"Alright, Naruto. This is as far as I can take you. The principal should be coming out to meet all the new students for the year and take them around the school. If anyone gives you trouble tell a teacher or me and I'll fix it. Don't worry about fitting in, everyone is different and I love you for that. I hope you have a great day full of laughter and friend making. I'll be here when school ends, alright? Be safe, I love you." Iruka stated as he hugged Naruto close to him tightly.

Iruka stepped back and watched Naruto walk through the gates of the school. His heart tightened as he watched the chubby kid and a very loud one flank Naruto. They had made a joke or something because Naruto was laughing. Iruka nodded to himself and turned around to head to work.

Naruto had made two friends rather quickly and he didn't even do anything. He wasn't sure what to say to them or what to ask but he stuck to them for now. The trio had walked to the group that was gathering in the center of the courtyard by the massive fountain. Naruto had learned the names of a few others but couldn't remember. His new friends were Choji and Kiba who both were friends with Shikamaru. They had been going to the same school for years now, so says Kiba. Shikamaru reminded Naruto of a sloth. Slow and always sleeping. Choji and Kiba had told Naruto that Shikamaru was a genius though. To Naruto the three new friends seemed familiar. 

As the four kids spoke about random things twelve-year-old boys talk about an old man made his way over to the group of social butterflies. He was smoking a pipe, but instead of smoke bubbles flew out of it. He wore a long jacket and a hat a little too wide to be sane. Beside him was a man with round sunglasses and a bandana tied around his head. He watched as the kids quieted down before him.

"Good morning children. I am principal Hiruzen Sarutobi, you all will call me Mr. Sarutobi. I welcome you all to my school and hope that each one of you gains the knowledge of 1000 students. Is there anything anyone would like to add?" Mr. Sarutobi asked as he blew more bubbles out of his pipe.

A child with pink hair and curious green eyes raised her hand, "I thought smoking was prohibuhted at school?" The girl asked.

"My, my, you are right. Luckily, this is a bubble machine. I would hope your English teacher helps you on your pronunciation. The word is prohibited. Now, follow me and I'll give you a tour of the school before sending you off to your classes." Mr. Sarutobi smiled and turned swiftly to march back up the stairs to the school.

The kids all followed, pushing and shoving each other out of the way. Naruto and his new buddies were at the end of the two lines that had formed as they climbed the stairs. The man with the weird glasses followed after the lines and shut the doors to the school with a loud, thunk, as he locked it. The new students took in the big halls of the school in awe and they listened to the history of the school from Mr. Sarutobi. Choji and Kiba had been making jokes of the old man and Naruto felt he needed to so he could fit in.

"Why does he wear that big hat? If you ask me, he should be wearing a strait jacket instead." Naruto whispered to his friend the same joke Shizune had told him every time she saw someone strange as they grocery shopped.

Kiba and Choji looked at one another before bursting into a fit of laughter. Shikamaru yawned as if the joke wasn't worth laughing it. Naruto smiled at his laughing companions and looked back to the front of the line where the pink haired girl was. If he knew anything about love or falling in it, Naruto would think he was in love. Sadly, his view of the girl got cut off by the mean kid from earlier.

"Hey, hey, who is that?" Naruto asked pointing at the pale kid.

"Ugh. That's Sasuke Uchiha. He's the 'cutest' boy in school, says every girl. He's nothing special though." Kiba said mimicking a barf.

"What's his story? Why is he so mean looking?" Naruto asked looking back over at the young Uchiha.

"His parents were killed in front of him one night. His brother, Itachi, could be the killer. No one knows though. I say stay far away from him." Kiba continued to explain.

Naruto felt some strange feeling in his chest, but he wasn't sure about it. Kiba answered more of his questions, but Naruto seemed more attached to him than he did his friends for some reason. Mr. Sarutobi had stopped at the end of the hall and declared it the end of the tour. He motioned for some students to head into the empty classrooms as he called their names from a sheet of paper.

"Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha, huh. Well, you two will be in room 406 with Mr. Ebisu here." Mr. Sarutobi said and pointed to the man with the circled glasses.

Sasuke headed in and Naruto hesitated as he watched his friends go in another. Ebisu helped Naruto by giving him a small push before nodding to the principal and shutting the door. Naruto sat in the only chair available which was right next to a girl with long blonde hair.

"Ugh, just great. I get stuck with the new kid. Why couldn't my last name start with a U." She complained as Naruto sat down.

Ebisu walked to the front of the room and picked up a clipboard from his desk, "Alright, listen up. I'm going to arrange you all the way I want to. If you don't like it then you can spend the rest of the school year in detention with Miss Anko." He stated and read off a few names.

"Ino and Sakura, you will be sitting in row three column five." Ebisu said and walked over to the table he was telling them to.

"Naruto and Sasuke you'll be right behind them." Ebisu informed and patted the top of the table beside him.

Naruto could feel all the glares of the girls as he sat beside the pale kid. He swallowed hard and tried to say hello.

"Don't look at me, don't copy me and especially don't speak to me." Sasuke demanded.

Naruto was taken aback. How could someone like a person like this. He had bit his tongue before when dealing with the kids at the orphanage but now he didn't care.

"Fine, but you can't touch me, eat next to me or live next to me." Naruto pouted and sat down.
