It was night when the small family of three came home. Naruto rushed right up to his room and shut himself inside. Iruka and Kakashi were left alone to deal with the events of the previous day. The pair made their way to their own bedroom and sat on their bed, both with heavy sighs. They didn't know what to do now. They never thought something like this would happen to them, but here they were. Kakashi made himself comfortable in the center of the bed and pulled Iruka to sit in between his outstretched legs with his back to his chest. With his fiance's arms wrapped around him Iruka relaxed just a bit. Kakashi kissed Iruka's cheek and rested his chin on the brunette's shoulder.
"We'll figure it out." Kakashi reassured and hugged Iruka closer.
"I hope so. I don't want him to think life is meaningless if there's all this negativity in it." Iruka sighed and rested his head on Kakashi's chest.
"Don't worry, he's got us and friends to make him see the beautiful things. Besides, he's a brave kid that doesn't give up so easily. I'll work with a friend to find a very respectable studio and see if he'll want to go." Kakashi suggested.
"Yeah, right now let's let help him overcome this." Iruka smiled softly as he stared at the wall across from their bed that had a family portrait on it.
With nothing else to say Kakashi kissed at Iruka's neck hoping to distract him just a bit. It worked since the brunette began giggling like a schoolgirl. Iruka turned over and sat facing Kakashi with his own legs over the taller pf the two. They stared at each other with small smiles.
"I love you." Iruka sighed dreamily.
Kakashi chuckled, "I love you too, otherwise I wouldn't marry you." He laughed.
Pretending to be offended Iruka playfully slapped Kakashi's chest. They leant in close and shared a sweet kiss before their bedroom door was thrown open. Standing in the doorway with a worn out plush of a fox was Naruto. Getting into mother mode Iruka climbed out of bed and rushed over to the boy. He checked him over with his eyes and relaxed when he didn't see any blood or injuries, but he tensed when he saw the bookbag on his child's back.
"Naruto, what are you doing up so late?" Kakashi asked getting out of bed too.
"I want to see Shizune." Naruto said barely audible.
"It's late, she could be sleeping right now. I'll take you in the morning." Iruka said getting worried.
"I want to see her now." Naruto whined with tears in his eyes.
"Why?" Kakashi asked as he changed his shoes for his house slippers.
"My video isn't working." Naruto continued.
"What video?" Iruka asked curious.
"Granny's video. My video." Naruto hiccupped as he showed his parents the DVD CD that had a crack in it.
"Oh Naruto, this can be fixed here. Let me see it." Iruka sighed glad that his thoughts weren't true.
Naruto handed the CD over and Iruka left the room and headed to the kitchen. Kakashi ruffled Naruto's hair and followed his love. Naruto followed after his parents and watched as Iruka pulled out a weird machine and stuck the CD in it. Kakashi started making coffee claiming that it was a stressful day. Naruto waited at the entry of the kitchen holding his plush tightly and blinking rapidly to dry his tears. Iruka turned the machine on and there was a loud vrrr sound as the machine worked its magic. Iruka decided he needed coffee too and grabbed his mug. Naruto slowly walked over to the table and sat down on the cushion. He thanked God that Iruka hated non cushioned chairs. The machine stopped and something popped open on the side. (its a futuristic machine oooo)
"Tada!" Iruka happily said and held up a small chip.
"What's that?" Naruto asked wiping his eyes.
"This, my sweet child, is your CD. The machine took everything on it and made it a flash drive so you can watch it on your computer or the TV." Iruka said proudly.
Without asking for it Naruto stood and took it from his father and left the kitchen. Iruka looked at Kakashi who had his mask on and his nose in his book already. Sighing Iruka followed after only to pick up the bookbag that Naruto had left on the floor. In the living room Naruto had plugged the drive into the TV and turned it onto the channel that was required. Iruka had never seen the video or knew about it. On the big screen a pair of watermelons showed up scaring Iruka.
"Naruto! What is this vid-" Iruka started but stopped when he saw the woman.
He knew her as the owner of the orphanage where he adopted Naruto. He knew she passed away, but he didn't know much else. Iruka watched the video smiling at it. Naruto hugged his plush close to his chest and visibly relaxed. The blonde smiled at the screen and wiped the tears that came.
"Yeah, I found my parents. Granny, you'd be best friends with them. They're perfect." Naruto whispered as his voice cracked. ( not gunna lie i'm getting teary eyed)
Iruka was taken back, he didn't know Naruto was so close to the Miss Tsunade. His grown man heart was swelling with love for his child, and he threw himself at Naruto. He hugged him so tight Naruto choked on air.
"Yes Miss Tsunade, I do love Naruto so much. He's one magical kid." Iruka laughed between his own tears.
The video ended and the two sat on the floor hugging. Kakashi came in and joined in on the love fest. They chuckled at how weird they were being but didn't let go of each other. Naruto looked to the ceiling and hoped that Granny was watching over him.
"We'll go see Shizune tomorrow, alright? For now, let's get you to sleep, or Kisame will have our heads for dinner!" Iruka laughed.
They stood up and headed to Naruto's room. It was a complete mess as if he had been looking for something in the middle of a tornado. Apologizing for the mess Naruto promised to clean it tomorrow. The blonde's parents tucked him in after watching him drink his pain killer medicine and left the room.
"I hope we can make Miss Tsunade proud." Iruka smiled.
For some reason after Iruka said that he felt a sudden chill run down his spine.
