Chapter 32: Lost Bonds

She could tell it was still morning. The sun's rays gazed inside their open window, the curtains fluttered with the wind inviting itself in the room. Sarada opened her eyes, her eyelids were heavy but she was determined to keep herself up.

Successfully doing so, she managed to look up the ceiling. She was laying down and the headache she felt before remained, but it wasn't the worst she felt. She then looked at the surroundings, the wall, the bed she's on, the things near her.

She's in the hospital, she identified. Her vision wandered to the side, seeing another figure. A boy sitting down on his bed, looking out of the window to his right. Her bed was right beside her, but she wasn't close enough to reach him to interrupt his moment of silence.

Sarada moved, slowly getting up to sit down. Her movements were heard by the boy and made him turn his head—she can only see the side of his face.

The features. That's what she focused on.

Sarada stared at the pale colour of his skin, the pink hair he acquired that outgrown his dyed black hair, the way his eyes blankly stared on the bed, sat still by Sarada's sudden movements.

'Is he really my brother?' She asked herself. The signs are all clear yet some unknown feeling is telling her that this isn't true. She wasn't used to this.

Knowing that Sachi is aware of Sarada's bewilderment, he starts a conversation. "Hi.."

Sarada blinked. That's the first time he spoke to her, "Hi." She let out.

For a second, she thought an awkward silence would be brought in, but he talked again. "So, I'm assuming you're my sister..?" This time, he fully turned his head to her as he asked, his eyes also tracing all the features that matched his except the eyes and the hair she bears from their father.

Sarada lifted a small smile, "And you're my brother." She looked back at him, his eyes really had the same brightness as their mother, "I'm Sarada Uchiha-" The mention of her last name made her wonder if it was even necessary to mention it.

This seemed to be the first time she felt nervous saying her name since throughout her years of growing up, she learned to put pride and confidence in her name as it was splattered of horrible rumours that were caused by her father's past actions.

It's not like everyday you'd wake up to a day to learn you have a twin brother you never knew about.

Sachi nodded, letting her know he was aware of her background. "My name's Sachi. Sachi.. Gakino."

Sarada widened her eyes at the mention of his surname, her eyes wandering somewhere else. Sarada took a moment of her time to think of families with names as such. "Gakino, huh.." She stares back at him, a realization hits her, "So are your parents here?!" She asked shockingly.

She wanted to know who her brother has come to know as his family.

Sachi shook his head fast. He shouldn't have said that, but despite that feeling he thought it was best to say the surname he currently owns to clarify they are not a family. "They're not. My friend and I..." He thought of a good story to connect his sentence, ".. We came here when my parents just mentioned I was adopted."

It's only best to say the truth. Half of it at least. She wanted him to think he was running away because he wanted to see his real parents that his adopted parents were hiding from him. Even though that information was years ago, it can be used as an excuse to lure them to a trap

He realized that this made Sarada's head drop down in pity. She wondered what he felt when he found out he wasn't with his birth parents. Did he also know he had a sister?
