Chapter 36: Our Sons

In the Forest Village, in the main house owned by the superiors, inside is Ena, Aki and Riyu dining together still as they spoke about their plan in the middle of the night.

"I have a plan"

His words gave Ena and Aki hopeful anticipation for the sake of their village.

"I'll have to say everything according to what I've planned for a while, and you will listen to everything I say."

Despite Aki or Ena having more authority in the room, their desperate state let him be as they both nodded in understanding.

Riyu nods back, "From what I've gathered so far, the Leader and Shiro are most likely to be on the same page and this leads us in a bad situation due to our lack of knowledge of who allies are and who aren't. Someone has to go to who we trust the most.." He looks at Ena with an apologetic gaze.

"We need Sachio." Riyu expected her to shout in disagreement but she stayed quiet as she trusts him to give out his reasons. Riyu coughs and continues, "Even though our first intentions with him is to use his skills for the sake of the village and to finally cut ties from Shiro's schemes, our intent can lead to Sachio also being used by someone else."

Ena furrows her brows, "What do you mean."

"While I listened to the conversation, I caught on to a few words about Sachio. Knowing that kid's background and chakra, it's no surprise they'd want him. We can trust Sachio.

"How do we do this?" Aki asked.

"Before sunset, you guys need to be out of the village and get to Konoha fast to let Sachio know about this."

Ena noticed his choice of words. It seems as though he won't be joining the departure from this village, "What about you!?"

Riyu sighs, "When you get to Sachio, he needs to get away from his family. His family is now the main target due to how much they stand out and if words get around of him reuniting with his family, it's possible he'll be taken easily by Shiro himself. We don't know where he is but it's a good guess when we say he is much closer to Konoha."

"Riyu. Is this why you wanted Sachio to still be tied with us by telling such lies about his parents so he'd still have trust in us when he learns the whole truth..?"

He could only nod in response, leaving Ena troubled as she didn't want things to go this way. She never expected it'll go this way.

"Now tell me. What will you do?"

"I'll tell Noriko that I know."

"Are you crazy!?" Aki yells out as Ena stands up fast, speechless.

Riyu rubs his forehead, "I must. We don't know where Matsu and his wife are and if I am able to get to them when they'll take me away. In the process, you guys will have less attention when you escape."

Ena cries out. After trying to hold it in for so long, she finally broke down her walls. "You can't do that! I-I'll volunteer."

"Ena.." Riyu says strictly, "You're pregnant!"

"Well how can I let this slide! This idea of yours could fail! What if you don't get to them.. They might even kill you for knowing the truth, Riyu."

Aki gave a pained look at his daughter's distraught state at the fact that his husband might sacrifice himself so they could give time for the both of them to leave the village.

Ena continues to cry as she knows that there is no hope in trying to argue and yell out more for the whole village to hear. She knows how stubborn Riyu can be and if she goes on, she might stress out more.
