Chapter 17: The Mission
The blond jinchuriki held a hand up, waving at his friend, "Mornin' Sasuke-Teme!" He's signature grin stood out the most. Naruto noticed Sarada and greeted her.
Sasuke gave him a narrowed look which he always showed to his friend's energy, "What?"
Naruto was so distracted by Sarada - he couldn't answer his friend. He continued shaking hands with the girl's little ones. Sasuke's patience ran out as he cleared his throat, getting the blonde's attention.
"Sorry!" He chuckled, scratching the back of his neck. "I wanted to tell you something." Naruto's voice sounded stern
Sasuke just raised a brow and shifted to the side so he could come in. The two walked to the living room and as Naruto saw the scrolls he whistled, "Did I interrupt you?" He asked, settling down on the couch while Sasuke sat across him.
He placed Sarada beside him, waving a hand indicating he didn't mind. Naruto nodded, "About your mission-"
"I thought we talked about this already."
"Sasuke, do you really want to go? You have a family to take care of, not saying that Sakura isn't capable-" He cut himself with a sigh, "Look, Teme. That mission is going to take a long long time... And we know why."
Sasuke nodded, "I know," He turned to Sarada who was now playing with her hands as if she was counting. Sarada then turns to face her father and give him a smile.
Sasuke found this reassuring, and his gaze left hers and to Naruto. "It's for the safety of this village." He merely said.
Naruto was still against this, but he knew Sasuke was the right person to do this mission. These remaining Otsutsukis are really giving them a hard time
After the feeling of hesitating to let his friend off sadly, he just nodded, understanding his words. 'For the safety of the village.' He has to agree, since the goal of becoming Hokage is coming near.
Naruto inspected the scrolls and books that were piled or spread on the table. While Sasuke was busy reading off something that was possible about his eye he had to learn about, Naruto picked up a scroll that said investigation on it.
He opened it to see a familiar name as he said it in his head. 'Sousuke'. Naruto knew this had something to do with their child. The stolen first born. Up till now, Naruto was fully aware of Sasuke's constant research, investigation, and discussions with other Anbus assigned to this mission in finding his son.
As for Sakura, the first time he found out about this. He could tell she blamed herself a lot, and he was proud to see his wife giving her the advice she needed to hear so she wouldn't keep beating herself for it.
Most believed their son was dead already, but from the looks of it - Sasuke and Sakura aren't letting it fill their minds to give up yet, and Naruto supported them. "Did you find any traces of his disappearance?" Naruto asked.
Sasuke forced not to show a frown, "No." He runs a hand through his hair frustratedly.
"Hey," Naruto gave his supporting close-eyed grin. His thumbs up for him, "I know you'll find him. Believe it!" Sasuke chuckled and muttered 'Dobe.'
Naruto heard it well as he placed both his hand and the prosthetic arm on both his knees, with a scowling face at Sasuke. Naruto starts arguing to him, while Sasuke ignores him by reading. Also speaking in response to Naruto's lines of nicknames and arguments - just to tick him off more.
At that, their morning was filled with chattering, while the little Sarada looked at both men in the room.
While later in their conversation, Naruto had noticed he should lower his voice, or cut down the unpleasant words for a child to hear or else his wife, or his friend's wife will be up for scolding him.
