Chapter 37: I'll Come To You
Many looks follow them as they walk on the path to the Hokage tower. Sarada doesn't seem so bothered and as expected, her father is not slightly minding their agitated stares. Sachio on the other hand is holding a questioning look ever since they stepped out the door.
He is aware of who the name Sasuke Uchiha's name belongs to but even if he understood the past, he is yet to understand the people of this village.
Sachio taps on Sarada's shoulder making her look over to him from the book she is currently reading, "What is it?" She asks him.
He scratches the side of his face, "Did you.. Did we do some-" He pauses as he thought of slapping himself for asking if they had done anything to attract attention when they already did the first day he came to Konoha.
He coughs to himself, "Uhm, why are they.. Looking at us?"
Sarada looks around and sees many villages looking away from her gaze or starting to whisper upon themselves. This makes her scoff, "Don't mind them. They just like to spread rumours."
"I see. Do you know what they say?"
"That you look like our mother."
Sachio blinks and realizes he didn't have his hood up at the moment, making him self conscious and doing it, "Are they really saying that?"
Sarada chuckles, "Maybe. I can't hear them but it's pretty obvious that it's what they're thinking since they're only looking at you." She pointed out, and she was right. More eyes are staring at the mysterious kid with Sakura's pink hair.
They notice their father's walking has started to slow down and they look up to see his head turn to a group of people on the side of the path. When they noticed Sasuke's appearance, they started to scurry off.
"Papa? Is something the matter?" Sarada wonders, pushing her glasses up. She looks at the group of people with a disgusted look, whispering rumours upon rumours of her mother.
She has already heard the famous rumour of the suspicious relationship of Sakura Uchiha and the Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki. She starts to feel pissed and starts to walk again, following Sasuke's pace.
Sachio was getting more confused as he felt the thick tension between the villagers and his family. It seems as though it's not only their reputation that is creating a scene but something of his appearance has something to do with it.
"You don't really believe them, don't you, Papa?"
They're close to the Hokage tower due to how fast they were walking, as if the disturbing rumours of people around were starting to make them irritated.
"No." Sasuke only said.
Sachio nudges Sarada's shoulder, "What did they say again?" He whispers to her.
Sarada only sighed, "It's- It's nothing much, I'll tell you later." She whispers back.
He nods back as they all go towards the Tower, greeting the guards and passing by, on the way to Naruto's office.
The first to go inside is Sarada and Sachio, following behind is Sasuke.
"Sasuke!" Naruto stands up from his chair, as a few papers fly from his desk, making Shikamaru groan from defeat and picking up the papers.
Naruto walks over to them and Sachio doesn't fail to notice how Sarada's eyes brighten as Naruto pats Sarada's head, "How have you been?"
"I'm doing alright now. Much better than before." She tells him. Naruto nods in response with his big grin.
