Chapter 12: Investigation

Kakashi with his legs lazily on the table while reading a book, dropped when a loud bang of his door echoed in his office. Kakashi stared at his former student, Sasuke - who stood there, in his serious demeanor. Even with Sasuke's expressionless face, Kakashi could tell he shouldn't be pushing the Uchiha's buttons today.

The white haired man with a mask, sat straight as Sasuke walked towards him.

"The investigation?" Sasuke asked, as he stood in front of the desk.

Kakashi sighed, and picked up the book he dropped and puts it in the drawer. While doing so, he took out a file and waved it at Sasuke, "Here it is." He said with his usual grin.

Sasuke took it and opened it to see different faces and information of people he found familiar. The memory of him fighting them, metals clashing, and his inaudible screams from his wife came with it.

"It appears that some of them are rogues and some came from the Mist Village." Kakashi explained, as Sasuke continued to read the files, "As you may have known already, they wanted your kekkei genkai to be sold. The illness breakout in Suna was the reason they needed the money."

Sasuke nodded, "Is it possible they took our child?" He asked, flipping to different papers, seeing four different faces.

This time, Kakashi shook his head, clearly disappointed. "That is something I don't know. The assigned Anbus are still investigating it." He said and looked up to him after Sasuke placed the files on the desk, "Though, feel free to question those men."

An eyebrow rose on Sasuke's face questioningly, "You caught them?"

Kakashi grinned, "Of course. You just came at the right time. Sai helped, and he's probably in the cell with them."

"You could've told me earlier." Sasuke said, his eyebrows furrowed in annoyance. Though, he also knew Kakashi was the type to not get to the point. For some reason, he liked to make things slow and his lateness can be taken as evidence.

Kakashi stood up, still grinning. He just made it seem obvious he liked teasing the Uchiha. "Let's go."

This made Sasuke's eyes closed, not wanting to see the Old Man's grin as he breathed in to calm himself from possibly killing his former Sensei.

"Rokudaime, Sasuke. You're finally here." Sai said, with his all known fake smile. He expected Kakashi's lateness. He stood in front of the cell of those men that attacked Sasuke before.

"Sai." Kakashi said, "Well, well. Hey there." He waved at the familiar guys in the cell. His grin was easily shown through the mask.

They said nothing, but they looked up. They glared at Kakashi, but once they saw Sasuke beside him, they shivered.

"You know him don't you?" Kakashi asked them, gesturing Sasuke.

They still said nothing, but their visible gulp was a sign of fear. Kakashi sighed.

"Where is he?"

The threatening voice came from Sasuke, making the prisoners along with a few guards shiver. Sasuke wanted to get to the point

"W-Who?" A guy asked, he didn't dare look up.

"My son. Where is he?" Sasuke asked again. If he were to repeat, he might lose it.

The guy let out a shaky breath out, he looked at his allies beside him and across him but they were dead silent, tired, injured, and scared. He talked, "We d-don't have him.."
