CHAPTER TEN

HOW WILL YOU KNOW WHEN YOU'RE ALREADY IN LOVE? Most people may come to that extent of their life— where they would ask themselves that question. May nakapag-explain na ba ng maayos kung paano nila nasabing nahulog na sila sa pag-ibig? Kung paano sila nahulog sa taong 'yon without shrugging and just saying it just happens?

Yeah, maybe, love was really inexplainable for those who fell in love. We can define love in multiple languages and multiple definitions— but have you ever explained how come you fell in love with this person?

Love is patient. Love is kind.

But my exact question is— paano? How would you know that you already love a person? Was it when you're ready to let that person go and let him/her be happy with someone else— kahit hindi na sa piling mo— 'yung kahit masakit, makita mo lang siyang masaya, ayos na sa'yo? Or was it when you're ready to conquer everything— fight every hurdle just to win the love of that person— 'yung kahit anong mangyari— you'll stay— you'll hold on?

How exactly? Because I don't know what to answer to myself as I looked at Amari driving while he was talking to me na hindi naman pumapasok sa utak ko dahil iba naman ang iniisip ko.

How would I say that I don't like this person anymore but love him rather? Basta ang alam ko lang, what I felt for him from the very beginning intesifies now.

"You know what, babae, binigyan ako ng one week off ni Alpha— do you want to go to the beach?" As I snapped out from my own reverie ay 'yon ang unang pumasok sa utak ko.

"Ahm. Sige, why not." I answered calmly before gazing out of the window.

"Are you okay?" He suddenly asked kaya binalingan ko muli siya ng tingin before I pursed my lips.

"I'm good. May iniisip lang." I answered before pushing the next button on the stereo para ilipat ang estasyon ng radyo na ngayon ay nagpapatugtog ng Fools by Lauren Aquilina.

At that moment we were surrounded by Lauren's voice with our own thoughts swirling inside our mind. Then, I looked at his face as I can see his prominent side features from my view.

"Amari." I called at him.

"Hmm?" He asked as he maneuvered the car to turn left.

"How do you know that you have already fell in love?" I asked before sighing.

He slightly gaze at me before turning his eyes back on the road. I saw how he gripped the wheel firmly as his jaw clenched. "In my view, you'll know that you're in love when you're not just happy being with that person but also choosing and having the willingness to stay even though sometimes it hurts." He smiled bitterly and it pinched my heart to see him like that.

He still loves him, didn't he?

"You're in love when you can make the fool out of you." He stated before sighing heavily as if there was something inside him that he wanted to weigh down.

He parked the car at the derma clinic before turning off the engine. He looked at my daze self which was still looking at him before he grimaced and pinched my cheeks. "Aww." I reacted and massage both of my cheeks.
