That morning in Corona:"I got to be the girl who has everything," the princess of Corona hummed to herself while she was cleaning her room.
"Hey, Blondie!" Eugene said, entering his girlfriend's room. "You cleaning again? Sunshine, you know there are other people for that, right?"
"Yes, I know, but then they could have some free time," she answered. The Sundrop putted the broom she was cleaning with away and went back to her boyfriend.
"Et voila!" she said excitedly, waiting for his answer.
"It literally looks the same to me, except that there isn't any duuuuust- it looks great, Sunshine," he said rapidly when he saw the Princess's stern look. Then he remembered why he came here in the first place.
"Oh, and Blondie, could you take these to Hairstripe? I'm pretty busy training the other guards and he wanted these papers as soon as they're ready," he asked as he pulled a bundle of paper from his bag.
"Sure, I was planning to take a walk anyway," Rapunzel said and took the bundle from his hands. She left the room but not before giving her boyfriend a kiss.
"Give a scream if you need me!" he called after her.
The princess chuckled and left the castle. As she walked, she examined the papers.
"Gosh, Pascal. Has he been studying the black rocks again?" she asked her chameleon, who was sitting on her shoulder. The little animal shrugged.
She arrived at the alchemist his lab and knocked on the door.
No answer.
"Varian? Are you in there?" the blonde woman called out.
No answer.
She decided to open the door anyway. Rapunzel walked down the stairs and gasped when she entered his lab.
One black rock in the middle of the room, and Varian nowhere in sight. It was the first sign she had of her best friend, Cassandra, in six months. In any other situation, she would've been happy about that.
"No, no, no..." she whispered to herself. With trembling hands she putted the papers on his table and carefully placed her hand on the black rock.
She felt something. No, she felt someone.
"Cass..." Rapunzel whispered. "Why are you doing this...?"

It was still early in the morning when a blue haired girl leaned on the railing of her self-made tower, enjoying the sun on her skin. She had noticed that she was going more pale by the day.
The girls moment of peace was disturbed by a sudden twinge of pain in her head. She gasped and clasped her head with both hands.
"Cass... Why are you doing this...?" She heard at the back of her head.
Cassandra growled in pain. "Get out of my head!" she muttered. It disappeared as fast as it came.
"Do you see now what she can do?" a mystical voice from behind her asked. But Cassandra didn't answer, still confused by the sudden headache.
"She can get into your head, make you weaker," the blue ghost girl continued, "And you're not weak, aren't you?"
To be fair, Cass was getting annoyed with the ghost. At first her manipulation worked, but she soon realised that something was odd. She still had to figure out what, though. But in the mean time, she pretended to be blind.
The mysterious ghost disappeared when a door opened, and a yawning boy walked out. He seemed to be in a good mood.
"For a bed made of rocks, I slept surprisingly well," he chuckled, then noticed something was off. Cassie's face held a shocked expression, like she just saw a ghost. "Um, Cassie? Is everything alright?"
Varian came standing next to her. Cassandra pulled herself out of her trance and smiled at him, but he noticed it was forced. "Yes, I'm fine, forget about it."
She bend down and grabbed her bag that was laying on the floor at her feet and took something out of it. "I heard you were a fan of these?"
He gasped as he saw what she was holding in her left hand. "A ham sandwich?" she nodded and gave it to him. "Cass you really shouldn't have done that."
She shrugged it off. "It's nothing, really. I know it isn't something most people eat for breakfast-"
"What? I eat it everyday for breakfast," he said, already tearing of the packaging. Cassandra chuckled at this and made a black rock with a blunt top behind the alchemist so he could sit on it. He did, and Cass made one for her too, opposite of him.
"Did you already eat?" he asked.
"Yeah," Cass lied. She wasn't someone who regularly skipped breakfast, if that stupid raccoon of him didn't throw ALL her food out of her tower. Lucky she kept his ham sandwich in her bag.
"Oh, and look who decided to follow you," she said. Varian looked confused at her. "Mwhaph mphdo you mphean?" he asked with his mouth full.
Cass smirked at him, but it wasn't the evil smirk she had given him since she took him, it was a friendly one, as friendly as a smirk can be.
Suddenly he felt something hairy jump on his head.
"Ruddiger? Oh, I've missed you, buddy!" It was less then 24 hours, but his raccoon was his everything.
"Because of your little friend here, we don't have any food left," she said. Varian took Ruddiger off head.
"Is that true, buddy?" he asked playfully to his raccoon. She let out a breathy laugh and stood up, stretching her back.
"Looks like I'm going back to Corona."
Varians eyes widened. "W-what? But I t-thought you said you weren't going to attack-"
Cassandra quickly interrupted. "No, no, I'm not going to attack Corona. Since its the closest kingdom, I make a weekly trip to buy food and everything I need."
"Y-you do? But how do you not get seen?"
There it was. The evil smirk. "Oh, I took a cloak from the Spire. It can change your appearance," she explained. "Well, I'd better be off. It's still early so there aren't really much people wandering the streets."
With a wave of her hand, every opening in the building closed, preventing him to run off if he wanted to.
"I trust you, Varian, but you never know."
She grabbed her bag and just like that, she disappeared into the woods.
