Chapter 29: Battle of Vocal Supremacy

I am working on a huge paper for college right now, but I will still try to make updates happen. Ok, this chapter will be a mix of third-person and Jay-Kobes pov. Now let's get into the chapter, shall we?

Jay-Kobes pov next morning

You ever wake up early despite hating the mornings? That is me this morning having woken at six wondering why am I up this early. The problem with me is when I wake up I am unable to fall back asleep. Unable to get more sleep I get out of my bed and head downstairs not bothering to get dressed. I had on black Nike compression underwear so I still had something on. Getting to the kitchen I heat up some leftover pasta from the other night and head to the table with a fork. 

     "What the hell you are doing up this early," I hear a raspy voice say.

I turn around to see it was Alex walking down the stairs. He had an oversized hoodie and sweatpants on. "Oh good morning Hyung. To answer your second question I have no idea why I am up. Why are you awake?"

     "I got a call from JYP. He wanted to know if I would help him with something for his song."

Drinking my coffee I roll my eyes. I swear he promotes himself more than his idols." He simply nodded and went to get ready to go. With some time to kill, I do the dishes. Then I head to my room to weigh myself. Getting on the scale it reads 64.41Kgs (142lbs). Man, I should start fasting again. Next, I throw in a pair of Aeropostale jeans, a white My Hero Academia shirt, and my black Nike's.

     "I am heading out Jay!"

I hear my brother yell not caring about waking up the others. After getting dressed I head to the living room. Turning on the tv I see that Singing Battle is on and I smile. Turning up the volume I watch as two people sing against one another. It was a guy and a girl both musical performers and good singers in their own right. I do not know the song they were singing, but it was very high. Both singers have great control and are neck and neck. In the end, the girl won and the guy fell threw the stage. It would be so cool to be on the show as a hidden card(A hidden card is when a mystory person takes the place of the person who was supposed to sing). My phone goes off making me jump.

Sunny: Hey Appa can you pick me up?

Jay-Kobe: Yea sure. On my way now.

Getting up and heading to the door with the keys I head to get Sunny. It does not take long to get to the addresses. I texted him I was outside the house. Walking out I see Ae-Yeong and Sunny holding hands. They kissed before she left, Leaving Sunny blushing walking to the car. He gets in and I decide to tease him a little. "So how long has that been going on huh?"

     "Since this weekend. I said I liked her like the confident person I am and yea. We are a couple now," he said with confidence.

I smile and ruffle his hair. Seeing as it is still early I head to Starbucks and order us some coffee.

     "Thanks, Appa."

     "You are welcome."

     "Do you have anything on your schedule for today Appa?"

The last time I checked nothing is on our schedule today. Then again that has not stopped things from coming up. "Not that  I am aware of." Just then my phone goes off. My car has Bluetooth so  I answer while driving. "Yo, what's up?"

     "Hello is this Hyan Woo  I host the show Singing Battle. Is this Park Janghyuk?"

I curse myself in my head about not using a professional tone. Should have asked Sunny to check the caller ID first. "Yes, this is Park Janghyuk speaking."

     "We wanted to know if you would be willing to be a hidden card on the show today?"

     "On the condition that my son can watch in the audience. Would that be a problem?"

     "No Mr. Park that will be fine. Ok, I will send you the address of the place. See you soon."

I look at Sunny real quick to see an excited face.

     "I love that show! This is going to be fun!"

Stopping at a red light I get the address and put it in my phone heading to the studio. Making it there I walk into the building to see the chairs are empty. Sunny goes to sit down and I am greeted by Hyun Woo.

     "Hi, I am so glad you could make it."

I bow at the older man. "Thank you for having me."

     "So what is going to happen. We will take you downstage to the waiting room while the contestants sing. When the coach calls for the hidden we will call you."

     "I can not wait. Please after you." I walk with him taking me downstage.

Time Skip

It has been about three hours since the show started. Then I was told it was time for me to make my appearance as the hidden. I was given an earpiece and a mic while I follow the crew to the lift and wait. Suddenly the platform starts to lift me up. Hearing everyone gasp I wave and bow getting all the way up.  I walk over to the host.

     "Everyone is talking about you, but please introduce yourself."

     "It's your innocent bean here Jay-Kobe from Pandemic."

     "Now Jay-Kobe-ah I heard you are a fan of the show?"

     "Indeed I am. I was watching am old season this morning."

     "That is good to hear. The song will be I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston."

I am surprised it was an American song that was chosen. This is a very high song to sing, but luckily high notes are my specialty. I get in the place for the battle to start when the other coach calls his hidden. As the other hidden comes into sight my heart drops when I see it is none other than Dimash Kudiabergen. He is a vocal king with a singing voice of six octaves high and five semitones.

     "Welcome Dimash to the show. Jay-Kobe are you alright? You seem to be in shock."

I bring the mic to my lips. "Yea I am because Dimash is a legend. I am honored to have the opportunity to sing aginst a legend."

     "Now because you both are comfortable singing high, we decided to rase the key of the song. Is that all right?"

We both agree and get set up. This is going to be my biggest hurdle as a singer yet.

Third-person Pov

The starts and Jay-Kobe attacked first with his soft voice. He swayed back and forth feeling comfortable with the song. His turn ends and Damish sings in a quiet voice matching the mood for the song. This goes back and forth until the high part of the song comes. Damish belts with his powerful and soulful voice melting the hearts of the judges,

Then Jay-Kobe sang and matched Damish grabbing his chest closing his eyes. When the judging started Damish got the first point as he sings smiling at the camera. Jay-Kobe joined in harmonizing with Damish creating a sound that could melt even the coldest of hearts. JayoKobe earns two points. The song started to head toward the climax and both singers sang with all they had with their veins showing. The higher Damish would sing, Jay-Kobe matched pitch and sang even higher. Both vocalists were tied in points when the song ended. Jay-Kobe and Damish walked to the center shaking hands.

     "Great job," Damish said.

     "Same to you," Jay-Kobe responded.

Both singers went back to their spots. The results came and Jay-Kobe drops through the floor. Jay-Kobe lost by one point making it very close.

     "Damish has won! Judges ell us what gove Damish the last point?"

They said it was a very close call. Both singers had incredible vocal range, but Damish's facial expressions were slightly better giving him the win. With the episode coming to a close Jay-Kobe got Sunny and they headed out the studio to go about their day!
