Jayfeather's POV

This chapter sucks, I'm sorry. I've had trouble writing lately, for a lot of reasons, and I couldn't focus on writing, but I wanted to finish this chapter, so here is a piece of trash for whoever read this :(

Watching Half Moon run away and not following hurt Jayfeather. Feeling the rush of sadness that flowed from her broke his heart in two.

He really did want to go after her, but he'd seen heard her argument with Screech, and she was so mad. He didn't want her to be mad at him.

Half Moon would be fine. Pebble went after her. Dovewing sat next to him, and he could feel the thought rush to her head.

Could the fight have been over the she-cat?

Jayfeathe knew she'd catch on eventually, she was smart. He really hoped that she wouldn't act like Hollyleaf did when she found out.

Dovewing reminded him of Hollyleaf somtimes, but there was a difference. Hollyleaf had never been in love before, Dovewing had. Dovewing knew what it was like.

The biggest similarity between the two was their devotion to the clans. Even while Dovewing was sneaking out to see Tigerheart, she had felt so guilty that she would hunt as much as she could, and volunteer to do extra stuff.

"Jayfeather?" Dovewing said hesitantly.

"What?" He snapped angrily. He pretended he hadn't heard the questioning note to her voice.

She sighed, shaking her head. "Never mind."

Jayfeather huffed, irritated. "Stop wasting my time!"

Anger flashed through Dovewing, but instead of saying somthing, she turned and stomped off towards Foxleap.

Jayfeather rolled his eyes. Why am I meant to be here? He wondered.

Rock had told him to come, but why? He had been so excited to see Half Moon, but the moment he seen her he felt the same pain he had when he left her. Everything was repeating itself.

He could feel Screech glaring at him from across the cave, and repositioned himself to glare back. Jayfeather knew a lot of cats found it creepy when he looked at them, even though he couldn't see. He did not understand why it creeped them out.

Last time it was Half Moon fightimg Hollyleaf. This time it's me fighting Screech.

Jayfeather rolled his eyes. Why can't I just be happy! I didn't want to be a medicine cat! I still don't! Jayfeather thought.

He knew exactly what he wanted. He also knew that it could never happen. Jayfeather laid his head down, trying to get some sleep. It was useless, but if he laid there long enough, he would eventually fall asleep.

((()))((()))((()))((()))((()))((()))((()))((()))((()))

Turns out, Jayfeathers logic was very wrong.

He laid awake all night, thinking the same things on repeat, asking the same questions.

So, when Half Moon walked over to him that morning, he had just fallen asleep.

"What'd you want?" He said. His eyes were still closed, and his words slurred together.

"I wanted to share the rabbit with you. We used to eat rabbits a lot last time you were here." She said, hesitantly.

It made Jayfeather sorta sad. She used to have so much confidence, she was always to sure about stuff she said. And the few times she wasn't, she would hide it very well.
