Chapter 8

Donkey, Kobe and Max saw Shrek at the back of the boat staring out at the horizon. They looked at each other before walking up to Shrek. Kobe hugged her owner and purred on his leg trying to make him feel better. Donkey started to sing.

" Oh god. Here we go again!" Kobe thought to herself while rolling her eyes and facepalming to the singing. Shrek rolled his eyes as well. Max covered his ears to block out the sound.

" Donkey, can you just cut to the point where you're supposed to make me feel better?" Shrek interrupted Donkey annoyed with the singing.

Just like that, Donkey received nasty glares from Kobe and Max since his singing wasn't helping.

" What?" Donkey asked the two before they looked at Shrek who slumped against the railing. Puss hopped up on the railing and whispered into Shrek's ear. Kobe and Max tried to listen in.

" You know I love Fiona, Boss. Right?" Puss whispered before continuing.

" But what I'm talking about here is you, me, my cousin's boat, an ice cold pitcher of mojitos, no two weeks of nothing but fishing." Puss whispered before making a ' Let's go fishing' gesture by casting an imaginary rod into the ocean. Kobe and Max looked at Puss with raised eyebrows. Donkey was there to whisper into Shrek's ear.

" Man, don't listen to him. Having a baby isn't going to ruin your life." Donkey whispered to him.

" It's not my life I'm worried about. It's the kid's." Shrek told the donkey. The four animals paused at Shrek's rant.

" I mean when have you ever heard the phrase ' as sweet as an ogre' or ' as nurturing as an ogre' Or how about ' you're gonna love my dad... he's a real ogre.'?" Shrek asked them. The four understood.

" Okay I get it! Nobody said it was gonna be easy. But at least you got us to help you out." Donkey assured the ogre.

" He's got a point dude." Kobe told Shrek. Max nodded his head in agreement.

" That's true." Shrek agreed with his pets and Donkey before thinking.

" You're finished." The captain told Shrek. The five of them looked at the captain who cleared his throat.

" Uh, with your journey." He told the five as he pointed to shore. A majestic castle stood proudly on a nearby bluff.

" Wow." Kobe said as she was amazed while staring up at the castle.

Shrek, Kobe, Max, Puss and Donkey all stood at the entrance to the castle.

Donkey read a sign that was hanging over the entrance.

" Wor-ces-ter-shireee." He tried to pronounce then said " Now that sounds fancy." Kobe and Max rolled their eyes at Donkey like always but with smiles on their faces.

" It's Worcestershire." Shrek told the donkey.

" Like the sauce?! Mmmm... that's spicy." Donkey said with a smile.

The drawbridge to the castle lowered.

" Oohh! They must be expecting us." Donkey said.

" No kidding." Kobe thought to herself while she scoffed. They all started walking over the drawbridge. A horse whinnied behind them which caused the five to jump out the way as a medieval school bus stormed by. The kids on the back of the bus started screaming when they saw Shrek since he's an ogre.

" I'm not surprised anyone would freak out over Shrek being an ogre since most ogres are scary." Kobe thought to herself as she sighed.

" What in the shista-shire kind of place is this?" Donkey asked. Shrek looked concerned.

" Well, my stomach aches and my palms just got sweaty. Must be a High School." Shrek told him. Kobe and Max looked at the ogre shocked.

" What?!" Kobe exclaimed as she was not thrilled to hear what Shrek said.

" Oh no! Not a High School!" Max complained. He and Kobe always had a problem with teenagers. Not all of them but most of them are pretty snarky and down right rude to others sometimes.

The five of them continued walking by and they came across school grounds seeing a group of cheerleaders practicing.

" Ready?! Okay! Where for art thou headed, to the top? Yeah we think so, we think so! And dost thou thinkest thine can be stopped? Nay we thinks not! We thinks not!" The cheerleaders cheered. Shrek rolled his eyes as continued on.
