Chapter 17

Shrek tossed the chest onto the other end of the plank and catapulted himself over the cannon. At the last second, Shrek was able to aim the the cannon in the opposite direction.

The cannon fired and hit Captain Hook's piano, bloating it to pieces. Realizing their defeat, the Evil Trees dropped Donkey, Puss and Artie. The Evil Trees and the Pirates took off running, taking Max with them. Captain Hook noticed his army running off.

" Cowards!" He yelled to his scared army.

" Max!" Kobe worriedly called out to her best friend trying to run after him a bit.

" MAX!" She shouted his name again then stopped dead in her tracks.

" MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAXXXX!!!" Kobe screamed out loud until her voice went ragged, echoing all over the place and she started sobbing uncontrollably.

What will she do without Max now? She turned back around to help Shrek and the other males.

" What has Charming done to Fiona?" Shrek demanded the pirate.

" She's gonna get what's coming to her." The captain responded as he threateningly raised his hook but it gets caught on an Evil Tree's branch and was dragged away with the rest of the villains.

" Ahh! And there ain't nothing you can do to stop her!" Captain Hook yelled out to the ogre. Kobe, Artie, Puss and Donkey ran over to Shrek.

" We've got to save her!" Puss exclaimed with worry.

" But she's Far Far Away!" Donkey exclaimed.

" And my best friend Max just got taken away from us!" Kobe exclaimed with tears in her eyes. Shrek thought for a moment.

" Get yourself back to Worcestershire, kid." Shrek ordered Artie but the boy wasn't having it.

" No, Shrek. Hold on a second. I've got an idea." Artie suggested.

At Merlin's camp, Merlin was sitting cross-legged, deep in meditation. Artie approached him and so did Kobe.

" I'm a buzzing bee, buzz, buzz, buzz..." Merlin muttered to himself.

" Definitely reminds me of Vincent." Kobe thought to herself while watching the wizard meditate.

" Mr. Merlin, they need a spell to get them... I mean, us, back to Far Far Away." Artie told the wizard who stopped meditating and looked out in the corner of his eye of Artie.

" Forget it. I don't have that kind of magic in me anymore, kid. How about a hug instead? Hmm? That's the best kind of magic." Merlin said as he got up.

" Mr Merlin please. I know you can do it!" Artie begged the old man.

" I said forget it!" Merlin told the boy.

He turned and started walking away muttering under his breath. Artie thought for a moment while staring at Merlin. He started sobbing. Merlin stopped and turned around.

" Oh. What, What's with you?" The old man asked the kid.

" It's just so hard. You know? They really need to get back 'cause their kingdom's in trouble 'cause there's a really bad man and it's just so hard..." Artie sobbed while Merlin was visibly uncomfortable.

" C'mon take it easy." The old man told Artie.

" No! I don't think you understand! There's a mean person doing mean things to good people..." Artie blubbered as he was frustrated with the man.

" Oh, have a heart old man!" Shrek yelled at Merlin angrily.

" Exactly. Those pirates and trees took my best friend with them back to Far Far Away!" Kobe cried out to the wizard. Artie grabbed the old man.

" And they really need your help to get them back! So why don't you help them?!" Artie yelled desperately.

" Oh." Merlin said as he was stunned and didn't know what to do.

" Uh, Okay. I'll go get my things." Merlin said before going to the cave which caused Kobe to breath a sigh of relief and hoped Max was alright.
