-How much do you remember about the protocol? -Evan asked Kiara after a long while of silence when she exited the room and walked to the living room where they were.-
-Close to nothing.- Kiara replied.- I think that it would be better if you provided us with the context.-
-The Archive? -he scoffed before dropping himself onto the couch.- You finally went mental.-
-We will do this with or without you Evan.- she declared, causing some tension to land upon them.- Whether you like it or not.-
The rest of the group remained quiet as they witnessed the whole ordeal when Evan finally muttered a curse and proceeded to sigh.
-I would prefer it if you didn't get yourself killed for real.- he said.- You better hear everything I say.-
"The Archive is an annexe to our national library, over there is where a collection of the things that have shaped the realm are stored, that being letters, announcements, legislations, relics, codexes and more, which is why most of it requires authorisation from an authority that grants access to it.
Way too important to allow just about anyone to pry in there.
I do have a level-two authorisation, which in the hierarchy will be the highest I will ever reach. Level-one are diplomats, consuls and people of high status that require access, level-two are us advisors, counsellors and mediums, while level-three are simply those who made a claim to the nobility and asked for permission and, speaking of which, the royal lineage might be the only one so far that does not require any pre-authorisation to enter and inspect.
As a level-two, I can only bring a maximum of two companions as long as their level-three authorisations are issued, which in your case is highly unlikely."
-What prevents people from simply sneaking in? -asked Liam.-
-Secured windows made of a type of glass that can only be destroyed by high force, which will alert the staff, a locked entrance which is the only way in and out, also watched by a staff member that will request the authorisation.- Evan replied.-
-Wouldn't it be easy to simply knock the guard? -Dante inquired.-
-The staff is usually a Strategist that has also been trained highly in combat and there's a warning button hidden somewhere in his desk.- Evan dismissed, briefly pointing at Jasper.- They will know before you manage to make a move.-
-How's that reception? -asked Reyla.-
-Picture a library with a reinforced door on the lower floor, way after passing the shelves.- Evan described.- That door leads you to another room where the only thing you can see are statues, some lanterns and a desk with someone that's looking at you as if it was analysing every step you take, and it probably is. -
"After you hand in the authorisation and they verify it you are allowed to enter to another wing that is pretty much lit up by dozens of lanterns and just one big window in the roof, the whole place looks like a dimmer version of a library and the books and materials are way older than those you will find there.
The halls are sectioned by history, legislations, houses and more. The higher the floor, the more restricted it is, and once again you need keys to unlock the doors that prevent you from prying where you cannot. "
-Opening and Closing Hours? - Kiara interrupted what would have been another monologue from Evan. -
-Always. - answered her ex-mentor with a scowl. - I take it that you want to go now?-
-Yes.-the redhead agreed. - and this time, we are going to stick to our designations. -
"Which means that Reyla must go with him as she is the one that's likely to find that information the easiest.
