The day was humid as the day before that had rained quite a bit and on top of the humidity, the sun was aggravating the heat but that did not stop Liam and Kiara from training hard in their complex.

Today they were fighting bare-handed in pillars in order to assess how much of an improvement they had regarding speed, balance and flexibility compared to the past two months that they were not sent out on any tasks.

-C'mon! Is this everything you've got? - screamed Kiara after she knocked the air out of Liam.- Pathetic.

Screaming, Liam proceeded to use his arms to create a momentum that he then used to tackle Kiara with his legs and using her own weight against her, he allowed the gravity to do its job and throw her out of the pillar into the floor while he took hold from the corner of the same wooden pillar she had fallen from. Thinking that he had won, he allowed himself to smirk, but that was before he noticed her using her arms and legs to prevent herself from reaching the floor.

Their eyes connected and the only thing that could be seen was raw determination from both of them. He wanted to beat her as revenge from the past three times that she had kicked his arse and she wanted to force him to use everything he got against her.

Annoyed, Liam let go from his grasp almost falling onto Kiara, had she not propelled herself up and towards the left letting him fall beside her directly to the floor, so instead of hitting her, he landed on his feet.

-You've got to be kidding me. - the ash-blonde said with clear annoyance.-

Smirking Kiara let herself fall and landed in front of him.

-This is what happens when you don't give your all in a battle Liam. - she said with amusement.- Next time.

-Definitely next time guys. - said a random voice.-

Liam instantly growled at the dark-haired man clapping with irony while Kiara only sighed.

-What do you want Sander? - she asked the blue-eyed man.-

-The Commander wants to see you both cutie. - he simply replied smiling at her.-

-I already told you not to call me that. - she replied harshly.-

Before Sander could add something to his attempt at flirting, Kiara walked pass him completely ignoring him accompanied by Liam who laughed shamelessly at the boy's rejection from his friend, leaving Sander stunned.

-It appears to me that he won't ever learn. - Liam said gaining a smirk from Kiara.-

The past two months they had trained without rest because their commander had decided that it was best to give them a break until he could organise and plan what would their team's future be, so in the meantime it was Sander's team, Team Aegon, the second in hierarchy, the one that would handle the tasks normally fulfilled by the Alphas while they recovered.

Without any further words, the pair walked side by side to the Headquarters. Along the way, they watched as the people who were once hostile to them, murmured in disbelief as if the thought of them leaving their complex was far too abnormal to even be considered as likely to happen whenever they were speaking about the disgraceful remnants of the once strong Alpha Team.

Ignoring them all, they continued to walk side by side on the street occasionally watching as merchandisers walked to their stores, sailors exited their boats located on the port that was downhill, as children ran across the streets with their parents running after them or even as a few low-ranked cadets stopped at their tracks to salute them formally before continuing with their chores because regardless of everything that they went through, the Alphas were still one of the highest-ranked teams inside the military and they were all taught to respect their superiors unless instructed otherwise by higher ups or the alphas themselves.
