Almost done with Day 4 of the Alpha's PT and coming out of a cave was a female redhead dragging an ash-blonde male. Both looking exhausted and in pain, but the one that managed to freak out the entire medical team waiting for them was the injured man.
They did not require a thorough inspection of him to realise that he was badly injured; his face was starting to become a yellow colour and his improvised bandage was completely red.
Not only that but as they rushed to the boy noticing that he was starting to slip in and out of consciousness, the girl who apparently dragged him all the way here fainted and hit her head badly against the pavement making them flinch.
-Let's move fast, we don't have time! -yelled the Medical Chief, Iris.-
And so, without wasting any time, they carefully placed them both on stretchers and hurriedly proceeded to admit them both to the town's clinic.
-Took you a while to wake up. - whispered Liam.- Even I woke up before you and I had to go into a small operation.-
-How long was I out? -Kiara asked him with a raspy voice. - my whole body aches...-
-2 days, they said you were physically and mentally drained. - he replied without looking at her.- seems to me that it was the adrenaline what enabled you to keep going.-
-2 days? -she asked in a hurry after she processed what he said. - So, nice job leader? -
-No, I also woke up earlier today. - he replied with a smirk.- We still don't have a leader.-
-The Council is going to be mad at us for wasting their time. - Kiara said laughing.-
A day later both of them were discharged but Liam still had to apply an ointment twice per day and change his bandages after cleaning the wound for a week. So walking slowly as to prevent further injuries, Kiara accompanied Liam, who was carrying the crest, to the Marrick Pavillion where their commander was expecting them.
-You are late. - Damian said.- But I was informed of your status and that you were admitted, say how's your leg?-
-Could be better. - Liam replied while handing him the crest.-
-Congratulations Liam. - the commander said while grabbing the crest. Kiara, you are free to stay for his pledge if you like.-
-No, that is something corresponding to the leader. - she said but frowned at Liam's expression.- But I guess that my leader wants me to stay.-
-Yes, please. - he replied with a smile that confused her.-
-Before the pledge, I would like to give you some words Mr. Cresta. - said Damian.-
"There is a difference between being a leader and a mere captain and said difference is constantly neglected in favour of what ignorant people often wish to see. Someone can be a captain and still don't be a leader, reason being is that a leader is so much more than somebody yelling and sending orders.
To be a leader is to understand your and your team's flaws, work on them, provide the tools needed for improvement whilst inspiring others to follow your steps. In some ways you can even say that to be a leader is to be selfless, as you can often see leaders placing the team's greater good above an individualistic desire and, that, is something your fallen leader, Luke Farren, knew all too well.
At first, he was as cold and wary as anyone can be when placed in such an important position inside of a group but he grew up to become more compassionate towards his members, continuously surpassing everyone's expectations placed upon him but just as he was about to break from the pressure, he learned the value of trust.
