Nobody besides them realised it, but the instant that phrase came out of Liam's mouth, the whole atmosphere around the seven became tense and heavy. It was a huge contrast from the lively one around the whole bar, but the closer you got to them, the further you felt your energy become drained by the aura that they were all emitting.

Anxiety, for long-sought answers that some were doubting to even want to witness what they were about to reveal. Exasperation, because of the impatience and curiosity slowly eating them alive as they wait for Kiara or Liam to speak. Worry, about their possible reactions to such a revelation. Sadness, as their minds whispered them that whatever the pair was about to reveal was not going to be a fairy tale with a happy ending.

Wonderful combination, right?

-Do you remember what our mission was? -Kiara finally asked after what felt like an eternity to the presents, holding the blonde's hand under the table.-

-To gather intel from a base, but then you vanished and the last thing I knew was that you were back at Khaeron.- she said.-

Liam let out a sigh and Kiara noticed that his lips started to tremble and that he was increasing his grip on her hand.

-I will say it.- she told him with a neutral voice and sighed when she noticed them all staring them, Reyla looking especially anxious.- There was something wrong with that mission from the very start...

"It was weird how we suddenly discovered that base further east from here when it was hidden for years. And there was just something about it that did not add to me, but Luke had told me that, and I quote, 'all our missions are suicidal', so we disregarded any alarms and proceeded to go anyways.

When we arrived, we decided to go for the simple 'search and collect' tactic that we had used before, so Liam went with Alvin towards the west of the base, Luke and Eva entered the base and I stood on a tree where I could have a view of the base.

Everything seemed to be fine until it wasn't."

-She had noticed something that I had failed to relay.- Liam said shamefully.- There was a group that had just arrived at the base and seemed to be walking with the General himself, but since I thought it was something common, I did not say anything.-

-From my place I noticed a figure scolding the General and I knew that something was not right, that's when I felt Luke's call through our scales.- Kiara continued.- So I rushed in.-

-All of this while Alvin and I were ambushed.- Liam added.-It had turned out that the people I had disregarded were the Reiks and were already expecting a movement from us.-

-By the time I had managed to get close to where Luke and Eva were, I already knew that I would have to fight my way towards them.- Kiara said.- So I did, and when I stumbled upon them, Eva was laying on the floor while Luke tied a bandage around her thigh. She could not walk fast.-

"So I knew that I would have to open up the way towards our meeting point."

-But just as it happened, Alvin threw himself on my back, preventing a knife to land on my back.- Liam said.- I should have carried him away as our enemies regrouped, but instead, I ran towards the meeting point hoping to, at least, be able to get away long enough to plan for something.-

"I obviously could not get far because next thing I knew, I was inside of a dungeon and I could only watch as Luke and Eva agonized due to their injuries, but she was nowhere to be seen."

-They threw some sort of toxin that messed my senses up, my sight was foggy, I could not breathe nor feel anything and my ears rang giving me a headache before I blacked out.- Kiara said.- I am not exactly sure of what happened but when my senses came back I was chained up in a middle of a room, staring at a boy who tried to mock me until my eyes landed on his.-
