Ash knocked on Y/N's door.
"Y/N? Y/N!" he said, half whispering, half yelling.
He figured he must have been asleep.
"Never mind." he muttered. "I'll call her."
Ash dialled her number, and pressed his ear to the door. If her phone wasn't silenced, she could contact him...
Nothing. He can't hear that piece of classical music she put as her ringtone. Come to think of it, he didn't know what it was called. It was something fancy-sounding though. The mere thought made him yearn for her.
He shook his head, clearing his thoughts. Ash placed his hands on the door, and it opened with a gentle creak. Y/N had always said he could get her if he needed to ask anything. He turned the light on hopefully.
She wasn't there. Her bed was neatly made, but her phone, which was usually on her desk, was gone, along with her Pokemon.
He rushed back in his room, and turned his light on. His fingers tried to scoop up all his Pokeballs as quickly as he could. He had to find her now.
Ash counted his balls, then pinched his forehead. Zacian was missing... surely he was wrong?
One, two, three, four.
I'm not wrong.
"Goh! Wake up! Y/N's gone!" yelled Ash, shaking his friend awake.
"The future is in the palm of my hand..." he mumbled sleepily.
"Oh, shut up." muttered Ash. "Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!"
It performed the move with amazing effervescence, considering the fact that it had just been woken up from its slumber.
"Argh!" yelped Goh. "Next time, I'd prefer you just set the alarm clock."
"No time." said Ash hurriedly. "Y/N's gone!"
"As in, gone for a walk?"
"No! I called her, knocked on her room, even turned the lights on, but she wasn't there!" Ash half screamed hysterically. "Worse yet, I can't find Zacian's ball!"
"This is a real mystery." said Goh, pondering the problem.
"Could you just get your coat on and help me already?"
"Oh, yeah..."
The boys pulled on their coats; Ash doing his with such speed that Goh struggled to keep up. Ash was nearly out the door, running and dodging the slippery mat and the unstable floorboard below.
"Um, Ash?"
"What?" he snapped.
"Y/N being missing doesn't stop you from brushing your teeth. Besides, I know Y/N. She's a great battler, and if she's attacked, she really won't go down without a fight. Or she just might not go down, and leave her captor sprawled on the ground. The point it, hygiene is the best policy."
"You need to work on that."
Fortunately, Goh was right, and Y/N was still on her Galarian Articuno's back, flying amongst the misty air.
'We're here." she breathed, climbing off.
"Ah, lovely to see you, Miss L/N." said a voice behind her.
"Chairman Rose," she replied coolly. "Never knew you were the eavesdropper type. I knew there was someone tailing me."
He ignored her comments.
"I came to make an offer." he said, in that same oily tone he had just used.
"I said it once, and I'm saying it again." she whispered malevolently. "I'm not making a deal with you, Rose."
Chairman Rose noticed how the last word was hurled.
"Your choice." he smiled in a greasy voice. "You may regret it later, you know."
"I don't regret anything. I only regret your intentions. You have wealth, you have a company at your disposal. What I don't get is, why should you choose to enslave Eternatus under iron chains?"
He smiled.
"Miss Y/N, allow me to tell you a story." he said.
"Fine, but make it quick." she snapped. "I have an errand to run."
"When I was small, Galar ran out of energy. People were sent to work for energy, and my father was one of them. And then, one day, an explosion occurred.
"My father was never seen again.
"Ever since then, I vowed right there, to created an endless energy supply for Galar."
"Wow," said Y/N sarcastically. "I would feel bad for you if you weren't going about this the wrong way."
She continued.
"You sought to enslave, to capture a Pokemon to accomplish humane needs. That is utterly degenerate and acrimonious. You ought to be ashamed of yourself. All living beings will eventually pass away if they are constantly being drained. Isn't that taking away a life in exchange for a life you've lost? There's only one Eternatus. Look."
She opened a notebook with notes and sketches inside.
"Eternatus is the source of all Dynamax, Gigantamax, and Eternamax. Destroying it would make us lose this wonderful ability, where Pokemon and Trainer are one." she said, rather threateningly.
"But this is for the good of more than one! Miss L/N, surely you you must realise-"
"No. I won't have it any other way." she hissed. "You could have found another way. You don't. Using the easiest option was how it got you to being chairman of Macro Cosmos. It won't help you to success this time. Now, if you'll excuse me..."
She turned and walked away. She could feel a movement, then, a Pokemon inches away from her.
"Articuno, Freezing Glare!" she called sharply.
The Ferrothorn and Copperrajah Chairman Rose called out fainted immediately.
"You coward." she breathed, fury seeping in her voice. "Utter cowardice! Oh, if only I could turn you into a Furret right now..."
Y/N climbed onto Articuno.
"If you dare continue with your plan, I will stop you. Both you and I know it. In the end, you shall struggle against me, for I am Eternatus's Trainer. If you had any common sense, you would discard this plan and find a more...resourceful way to find energy for Galar."
Articuno flew off as she said those words.
"Articuno, you are thinking what I'm thinking, right?" she asked.
It nodded.
"I know." she said. "He'll continue with his plan. That doesn't matter, though, because he can't do any real damage to anyone, anything or any Pokemon until he has Eternatus. You saw how easily his Pokemon went down, right?"
It flapped its wings twice.
"We will beat him. And most importantly, we will save Galar. We'll find a way to create limitless energy for Galar, without going through harmful measures. It will stay there, and flourish for eternity!"
Forever and always, she thought.
