"...you're the secret to..."
Chairman Rose cut him off.
"The secret to unlimited energy, boy!" he declared. "Copperajah-"
Eternatus shoved it away with a wave of its tail.
"Eternatus! I am your master!" yelled Rose.
It glared at him, and looked at Ash, trying to convey its message.
Y/N sent me to help you, it seemed to be saying.
"I get it..." whispered Ash quietly.
"What? What do you get?" snapped Chairman Rose.
"Nothing." said Ash quickly. "I only get why you did what you did, and now, I will help you. Y/N sent Eternatus to help me, but she didn't know I was only acting to be on her side."
"You finally see truth." answered the man.
"Ash, don't listen to him! He's a two faced liar!" yelled Leon.
"Really? Would I really lie about what they did to my father?" said Rose.
"I wouldn't put it past you." said a voice.
The silhouette in the sky became clearer and clearer, and soon, a girl, along with two people, could be seen on a Pokemon. The Pokemon's wings flapped diligently.
"You're too late now, Y/N L/N! Your precious little friend just betrayed you!" hollered Rose.
Ash facepalmed.
"You could have used me to spy on her!" he hissed. "Now, there's literally no point!"
"Well, I'm sorry." said Rose snidely.
The man put his hands on his hips.
"You will surrender Eternatus to me, or I'll kill your little ally!" rasped Rose.
Y/N looked at Ash meaningfully.
"I thought you were my friend..." she whispered. "I thought I could trust you..."
"Trust you? You didn't even tell me you had Eternatus!" retorted Ash.
"I could let you die right about now. I could be just as merciless as Rose. He would kill all those who stand in his path to claim Eternatus." she stated.
"Why won't you, then?" taunted Rose.
"I take the high way around life. No one deserves to die. Remember what Dumbledore said? 'Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and above all, those who live without love.'" she replied smoothly.
"Shut up." sneered Rose. "This isn't some book. This is real life, not some wizard guy."
Y/N's eyes changed for a moment, and a gleam flashed over her eyes. In a flash, she and her Galarian Articuno had swooped down to Rose. Articuno had seised Chairman Rose by the collar.
"Don't. You. Insult. Albus. Percival. Wulfric. Brian. Dumbledore. In. Front. Of. Me." she hissed, glaring at him.
"I thought nobody deserves to die?" rasped Rose through what little air he had left.
"Of course they don't. However, it's undeniable that some people should be imprisoned. A few decades in Azkaban should do it." she answered.
She turned to Ash.
"After all this time?" she whispered.
"Always." he replied
"Stain of dishonour, filthy half-breed, blood traitor, child of filth..." she snapped, leering at him.
"I did what I had to, Y/N. You aren't going to win like this. Sometimes costs are made to be borne." he said quietly.
"No, you didn't, and you're wrong. Chairman Rose isn't good. He kept himself alive out of pure spite!" Y/N fired at him.
"It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends." Ash replied.
"The truth. It is a beautiful and terrible thing, and should therefore be treated with great caution." she responded. "You should have told me earlier. I never would have trusted you then, and you wouldn't have to suffer the unbearable burden of lying to me."
Y/N sighed, and faced Chairman Rose.
"You think the dead we loved truly ever leave us? You think that we don't recall them more clearly in times of great trouble?" she asked silently. "You're wrong. I wouldn't know what you feel like, but I know what you are missing. I was never in the same situation as you. I was ashamed, ashamed of whose blood I carried in my veins. You aren't. Ash, we are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided. Choose the right decision. Come to our side."
"I won't." he answered immediately.
"We've all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That's who we really are." she said meaningfully. "Indifference and neglect often do much more damage than outright dislike."
"My decision remains as it is." said Ash finally.
"Of course it would. People find it far easier to forgive others for being wrong than being right." she stated. "However, it is the quality of one's convictions that determines success, not the number of followers. I don't care about having one less person on my team. I've got plenty of Pokemon, Got, and Sonia. Not to mention, your Pokemon probably aren't happy with Evil Ash."
"Let's see how mouthy you still are after I crush you." snarled Ash.
"Oh, speaking about ourselves in third person, are we?" smiled Y/N.
"You wish." he said viciously.
"And you know the battle's already won by me when you can't come up with a better comeback than that." grinned Y/N.
This is probably my favourite chapter (so far) of this book. Three things to say before you leave.
1. Only true Potterheads can find all my Harry Potter references. Comment the number you find! First one to get it all correct will receive a dedication in this chapter and their name in the 'Some Appreciations' chapter under a special section!
P.S: If you over guess the number and you think I put a reference in with our realising it, private message me and quote all of the ones you found.
2. The last two roasts that Y/N uses (last line and third last line) are invented by me. Feel free to use them in your books if you credit me!
