"So... Get on with it." snapped Ash.

Rose chuckled.

"I thought you were brilliant... I thought wrong. Are you really that dense, m'boy?" he answered.

"Get. On. With. It." the boy roared through gritted teeth.

"Y/N will die amongst our claim for Eternatus. Do not tell me that you didn't know that?"

"I didn't," he said quietly.

"Oh, but rest assured, she will get her punishment." smiled Rose.

"I thought you wouldn't need to. Did you not say yourself that you will only use force if necessary?" accused Ash.

Rose smiled, though it looked much more like a grimace, with the air of someone trying to explain that one plus one made two to an overemotional toddler.

"My dear boy," Rose began.

It was obvious that acting nice to Ash was taking all of his self-restraint.

"I get it, I get it." interrupted the boy. "Point is, we need Eternatus, correct?"

"Yes, indeed."

Rose seemed pleasured at last.

"You watch out for that girl and her friends. I believe their names were Josh and Silia?" said Rose questioningly.

"Actually, it's Goh and Sonia, but it makes little difference what they are called. They will be in mortal peril by the time they arrive."

"Much better, boy. Now you're thinking like a real Macro Cosmos employee."

                                                             * * *

"Alright, wish us luck!" said Goh.

He and Sonia were already in disguises that Y/N had prepared for them.

"Good luck then. Also - rule one - don't get killed." replied Y/N.

"I figured as much." mumbled the boy half sarcastically, half horrifically.

"Rule two - constant vigilance. Off you go then - just take this first before you leave." said Y/N.

She handed them each an earpiece, then tapped her own that was already in place.

"Just to keep in touch. I trust you know Morse code?" she added.

"No." said the other two in unison.

"Ah. Never mind, then. Good luck, farewell, and all those in between."

"You too, Y/N." responded Goh. "Thank goodness I'm not the one out there going to battle Rose!"

"Shying away from thy fears shalt only delay them, lest not prevent those fears." said Y/N briskly. "There will be a time where you must face Rose. However, that day is not today, and I can only wish you luck when your times does come."

"Well, that's reassuring." gulped Goh.

The golden glow of the sunset shone onto their faces. Colours spread all around the sky now - beautiful shades of violet, vibrant hues of yellow, dashes of glittery navy. The clouds seemed to be illuminated in the depths of the sky. Y/N spread her arms out, taking in the view.

"See this?" she asked.

"Um... The sky?"

"Both yes and no. The concrete object you see here is indeed the sky... However, you do not the the abstract views that it holds. You know what I said before about you having to confront Rose at the end? The sky is like that. On some days, it is but one solid colour, lurking in the darkness. On others, it is like this - elegant hues of light combining into one. The sky you choose is but your decision. Do you choose to be one colour, alone and poignant? Do you choose to be a hue in the sky, helped by your fellow companions to create something extraordinary?

"Of course, that is not to say that you should not do things alone. I travelled alone for pretty much all my life. However, if you know you can't do something, then that's how you know you need help. Not someone to face it for you, Goh, but help. What is your decision? Are you going to be one hue in the sky, or join the ripple of colours that await you?"
