Chapter Twenty Five: Denouement

The dark silhouette of Rose leered over Gladion and Y/N.

"I heard everything.' said the man with relish.

"Oh, did you now?" replied Y/N scornfully. "Nasty little creep, you are."

"Now," chuckled Rose. "Let's not be so hasty with accusations."

Y/N rolled her eyes.

"Oh, yes," she answered sarcastically. "Let us not argue about this anymore, even though all the evidence is raising a thousand eyebrows."

Gladion was looking from the H/C haired girl to the dark haired man in front of him.

"Er," he said, unsure. "Who are you?"

"No time for introductions." said Rose smoothly. "Allow me to introduce my Eternatus."

"Wha-" interjected Gladion.

He was in deep shock after seeing Y/N's Eternatus with Rose.

"How did he get your Eternatus?" he asked Y/N, who was seeming quite unfazed.

"Long story, and one we don't have time for." answered the girl swiftly.

"Yes, indeed." said a new voice.

All heads turned in the direction of the newcomer.

"Ash." breathed Y/N malevolently. "It's been too long, wouldn't you say?"

The boy sneered in her direction.

"You are right," he taunted. "And you can't escape this time."

"Let's move on for the wordiness, shall we?" replied Y/N nonchalantly.

Before anyone could move a muscle, Cinderace returned to its ball, and the Pokeball Y/N held in her hand began to enlarge. She threw the ball out onto the ground, and in its place, a Gigantamaxed Cinderace stood proudly.

"Pyro Ball!" said Y/N loudly.

The scorching ball of fire launched itself at Rose's Pokemon, leaving them completely stunned.

"You should have known better." said Y/N smoothly. "CInderace's Pyro Ball never misses its opponents. You should have checked with the Pokedex before challenging me."

While all this was happening, Gladion's and Ash's Pokemon were locked in close combat, neither one daring to back off.

"You will lose." stated Y/N simply. "It's the truth, and it would be wise of you to surrender. Of course, you are rather pig-headed, so I have not an inkling of what your choice will be."

"I WILL NEVER SURRENDER!" roared Rose.

He looked around wildly, as if there might be Pokemon around that he could use.

"Give up." repeated the girl.

"NO!"

Rose's face had an eerie glow to it.

"Who cares?" he said coolly. "I have Eternatus, and I will use it was a power source!"

He pressed a button on a remote control, looking evilly expectant. Nothing happened.

"What?" he cried incredulously. "But-"

"But Sonia and Goh disabled it, of course." smirked Y/N. "All part of my master plan."

"You haven't defeated, you know, Y/N L/N." he growled. "This is not my last appearance."

"Oh, I know." she replied airily. "But who's to say that your second will bring you prosperity."

Rose glared at her, then querulously whisked off in his helicopter.

"Hey, Gladion, Ash, you two can stop trying to kill each other." Y/N said momentarily.

"What? But he works for Rose, doesn't he?" argued Gladion.

Y/N rolled her eyes.

"No, you idiot! He worked for me! I told him to pretend to work for Rose, the same way I told Eternatus! You didn't honestly think that somebody who's fought against evil their whole life would just switch to the dark side in a click of a finger!"

She slapped Gladion on the back good-heartedly.

"Either that or Ash was a great actor. I overheard your Harry Potter word war. Ash actually sounded pretty evil, so don't you go and blame me!" he said defensively.

"Well, I will." Y/N replied, laughing. "Good job there, Ash. You weren't a failure like I thought you were."

"You actually thought I was a failure?" said Ash, feigning shock.

Goh yawned.

"Come on, let's go back to our rooms. It's still way too early." he chided.

Y/N checked her watch.

"It's 6:00." she said matter-of-factly.

"Either way, I'm hungry!" declared Ash. "Let's go back and get a bite to eat."

And so, they flew away on their Pokemon, Y/N and Cinderace now on Eternatus.

However...

The battle may have ended, but the real challenge for Ash and Gladion hasn't...

Will Goh and Chloe also confess their feelings?
