Well, since my birthday was on the 18th of August, I thought I should write a birthday special. This had nothing to do with the main story of Y/N leaving. I will also write this one in first person.
Ah... It's my birthday...
It's blatantly obvious that my friends are planning a surprise party for me. It's easy to notice. There's always the people who go in front of doors and say "No, nothing here, absolutely nothing at all.
If that isn't as creepy as heck, I don't know what is.
Anyway, I'm sure that the birthday surprise thing is way too cliché right now. If my friends have any common sense, then they'll refrain from the birthday surprise party cliché and just give me my presents as usual.
Just as I walked up to the laboratory, Ash glided in front of it and waved his hands frantically.
Or maybe not.
Well, I suppose I'l let them have their fun. I just won't go in there so I won't spoil it.
"Hi, Ash." I grinned. "Hmm... I wonder what day it is?"
Ash smiled nervously. He's always so easy to read.
"Well, guess there's no hiding it from you, Y/N. If you don't mind, could you give the others time to finish the surprise?"
"Sure thing." I nodded.
He smiled gratefully, then proceeded to whip out a candle from his pocket.
"Do you want to go to a haunted house with me?" he smiled.
"'Course. I'm up for it. Besides, I really love haunted houses. Well, more complaining about how garbage the acting is."
He chuckled, then led me by the hand to a boat. The water was unsettled, which was fine by me. I liked it that way.
"So, Admiral of the Fleet, shall we go?"
I rolled my eyes.
"It's a canoe. Barely a fleet, you know that."
"Figure of speech. Now, come on, let's go!"
We boarded the canoe, and I began to row alongside Ash. The waves were rough and unpleasant, but I enjoyed the thrill of it all.
"Glad to see you're having fun." Ash said.
"Of course I am." I replied, steering the canoe back on course. "Look, is that the house? Is it newly built? I don't recall ever seeing it on the map."
"Yeah, it's new."
I stopped our canoe near the dock, and tied it to a pole with some rope from my backpack.
"Well, come on, Ash?" I said. "Or are you too cowardly to enter?"
"Me? Not a chance."
I grinned, and handed Cinderace a stick. It set the top on fire, turning it into a torch.
"Now, let's go, Ash."
We reached the door, and I gave the door a light knock with my knuckles.
No one answered.
How typical.
"Cinderace, if you please." I said coolly.
It kicked open the door karate-style, then motioned for Ash to enter.
"Why should I enter?" he said, panicked.
"Well, you literally just said "Me? Not a chance" when I asked you if you were afraid of entering." I replied casually. "Come on."
I shoved him through the door, then went in myself. The only sound I heard in the dark was the fall of a candle.
Cliffhanger!
