Eric was waiting for them at the carriage while grinning to himself. When he heard them approaching, he looked up and put on a solemn face, but Lucia was pretty sure he was putting on an act.

"You're back, I have some unfortunate news..." He paused for dramatic effect. "It seems a law was passed recently while we were traveling that all teenagers and children must go to school to learn to control their magic and receive a license to use magic legally in town. So alas, you'll have to go to the school as mages after all..." Eric declared looking upset, but Lucia was pretty sure he was happy about this turn of events based on his grin earlier, and how he told them rather eagerly.

Lucia shrugged, "So be it, but can I still learn archery?"

"Yes. The magic school for teenagers is attached to the militia school, so you can take their combat classes as extracurricular. There are quite a few close combat mages that sign up to learn sword fighting and martial arts." Eric explained feeling pleased that they didn't put up a fight.

"Enough chatter about that, the food is getting cold." Amanda interrupted as she passed a half a loaf of bread and bowl of soup to Eric, then helped Calvin climb into the carriage.

"Yes, thank you for the food dear." Eric quickly thanked as he followed her into the carriage. Aegis was about to offer his hand to help Lucia in the carriage when she climbed in easily, so he merely smiled and got on as well.

"Lucia are you sure you should have that bird in here?" Eric asked as he noticed Vicki still sitting on Lucia's shoulder while looking around with curiosity.

"If she didn't want to be in here, then she would have said something. This is her first time on a carriage, so I'm sure she is curious.

"Oh, alright." Eric quickly dropped the topic and started to dip the bread into the soup to eat. Everyone followed his action other than Lucia who tore off a small chunk of bread to dip and then fed it to Vicki. Vicki ate it happily while Lucia did the same for herself and repeated feeding the both of them. Lucia snuck a piece of soup soaked bread into her shadow for Rikit to try too.

{I don't really like it...} Rikit sounded upset that the first new thing he tried, he didn't like.

{This food is so much better than plain cooked meat!} Vicki complimented between bites.

{{Agreed.}} Aegis and Lucia replied simultaneously.

Eric suddenly remembered and opened the window and leaned out slightly to tell the driver, "Please take us to our house now."

Without a word, the driver whipped the reigns and the two horses started to move. It was a quiet meal while Lucia, Vicki, and even Aegis watched the town through the windows. This side of town seemed to be pretty prosperous, clean, and without disorder. Before too long, they had entered a gated district with a sun on the gates. There were many large houses that were a mix of earth, stone, and wood. They looked large and luxurious compared to the buildings from the rest of the town. Half the houses were two stories and the other half were three stories tall. The carriage pulled into a two story villa with a gate that had a snowflake on it. Several servants were already outside waiting. There were men and women both wearing either a dress or a suit depending on their role. If it weren't for the Adam's apple though, Lucia would hardly be able to tell they were men. She found herself staring though, so she quickly shifted to looking over the well maintained yard. There were pockets of flowers and bushes evenly placed around the edges of the yard, and a few nice trees in the middle for shade.

"Please pass your bowls to this maid and follow me, I'll show you where we can wash our hands." Amanda clapped to get the kids' attention.

"Also, we're taking in these two children. Please treat them well, like how you'd treat our son." Eric explained to all the servants who were secretly eyeing up these two wild kids.
