The sun peered down from its zenith as Aegis, Vicki, and Daisy reached the Frost family villa. Aegis showed the badge and the guards let them in.
"We're the same age, do you plan on entering the military school this summer then?" Daisy had been asking Aegis questions about himself the whole way here.
Aegis only replied with minimum word answers, "Magic school mandatory."
"Oh nice, I'll be going to magic school too. Maybe we'll be in the same class. So what hobbies do you have?"
"Sword practice."
"What kind of food do you like?"
"No preference."
"Favorite color?"
"No preference."
When they entered the house Aegis went over to a maid, "Where is Lucia?"
"She left a couple hours ago with a horse from the stable. I think it was said that she was going to the graveyard?" The maid replied with what she had heard from others.
Aegis raised an eyebrow in surprise, then asked, "Where is the stable?"
"It's a bit off to the left of the front gate."
"Thank you." Aegis quickly turned around and headed to the stable.
"Shall we wait here for your friend to return? We can chat over tea." Daisy suggested.
"I'll go look for her." Aegis replied back.
Daisy looked a bit upset, but she just silently followed him.
Mr. Tac who was changing out the hay in Bruno's stall heard the footsteps coming and stepped out to see who it was.
"Well hello there young'ins, what can I do for you?" Mr. Tac smiled as he greeted them.
"I would like to borrow a horse please." Aegis asked without reserve.
"Where are your manners, not even introducing yourself." Mr. Tac pouted, but even though he said that he went to go grab one of the horse's from the stable. When he came out with a horse and was about to tie it to the hitching post so he could put the tack on it, Aegis took the halter lead rope from him.
"My name is Aegis, I'll be in your care in the future. I apologize for being in a rush, but I'm going out to find the girl who borrowed a horse from you earlier."
"Oh, she was a sweet lass. Are you sure you don't want to wait till I put the saddle and reins on the horse?" Mr. Tac looked worried as he watched Aegis mount the back of the horse.
"It's fine." Aegis said as he kicked the sides of the horse to take off.
"..." Daisy who was waiting for him to offer her a hand to climb up watched in shock as he left. She pouted a bit before heading back to the villa silently.
Aegis rode through the streets while managing the horse. This horse didn't have its wisdom like Bruno did, so he had to carefully control it in the crowded streets. Vicki had taken to the sky to get an aerial view while keeping Aegis in sight as well. There were a few other birds flying around the town as well. From robins to sparrows, but when they saw Vicki they all flew away to hide. This caused anyone who was looking up to only see a bright orange bird flying circles over the main road. When Aegis reached new graveyard, he didn't see any sign of Lucia. Aegis put a bit of mana into the oath markings. The markings on his right which was facing East started to glow softly. Anyone looking would just think it was a trick of the light as they stopped glowing just as quickly. Aegis turned his horse East and rode off.
