{First, please make a mana crystal core for me to put mana into.} Lucia transmitted and the bear complied.
"Are you also of the earth element?" The bear questioned while passing over the small mana core.
{Nope, but this crystal core is.} Lucia responded while secretly pulling out a Earth crystal larger than a baseball. She put the crystals next to each other just barely touching as she used her own mana to push mana from the large orb to the smaller one.
"Why did you choose not to fight with me?" The bear asked out of curiosity.
"I don't plan to eat you, and you haven't done something bad to me. So why should I kill you?" Lucia replied absentmindedly, allowing everyone to hear her.
"He may not have hurt you, but he has injured and killed our people!" The guard captain retorted grumpily.
"Well how many bears have humans killed hmmm? I am stepping in as an intermediary, not as your reinforcements." Lucia argued back.
"What? Are you saying that humans and beasts are equal in your eyes little girl?!" The guard captain yelled only to have Aegis conjure an ice sword to point at him.
"Yell at her again and I will be your next problem." Aegis threatened with a chilly glare.
"Yes, for me animals and humans are equal. Other than the fact that I don't eat humans." Lucia replied calmly as she felt reassured with Aegis here.
{Why is it so noisy?} Vicki asked groggily.
{Sorry, keep sleeping. We'll try to keep it down.} Lucia placated the half asleep Vicki and finished the mana transfer. "Here you go, this is like the one you lost right?"
"Yeah. Thanks... Uh..." The bear was unsure how to react now that things had been resolved.
"You're welcome, please don't lose this one and take care of yourself." Lucia sent off the bear who left peacefully. She put away the Earth crystal core where the human's behind her couldn't see before turning around. "Calvin, it's time to settle our contract."
Calvin ran out of the forest to hug his Mother after hearing Lucia call out to him.
""Calvin!"" The Father and Mother both shouted in surprise.
"Contract?" Lyle asked while the family was happy to reunite safely.
"Yes, he agreed to have his parents help me once I helped them." Lucia used a customer service smile and moved to stand beside Aegis.
"Thanks for helping us, I am Viscount Eric Frost. This is my wife Amanda Frost. This is our guard captain Lyle." Calvin's Father offered his gratitude and greetings politely.
"It's nice to meet you, I am Lucia and this is Aegis." Lucia offered greetings politely as well.
"If you don't mind my asking, how are you able to talk to animals?" Amanda asked while gently stroking Calvin's hair.
"It's a special trait of mine that I've had gained when I learned to use mana." Lucia replied simply as she didn't know how to explain it.
"What did you need our help with?" Eric asked.
"We have been living in the mountains and only recently descended to this... Country. We don't know the rules, have identities, or currency. So I'd like to make a deal. In exchange for helping you today and healing your guards that are not dead yet, you will provide us with what we need to live in this country." Lucia suggested as a contract appeared in front of herself, Eric, Amanda, and the Lyle. The contract for Calvin reappeared as completed and changed to the new one. It included clauses like cannot share secrets in any way, shape, or form; cannot betray Lucia and her companions, etc. May make suggestions to Lucia and co. (company) to keep them from causing the Frost family trouble. If Lucia and co. cause too much trouble to the Frost family, then they may ask for compensation and close the contract. Frost family is not allowed to insight trouble to purposely end the contract early through themselves, employees, or other means. Basic legal stuff that gave Lucia and her group freedom, but not to the extent of walking over the Frost family.
"This is well thought out..." Eric and Amanda who peeked at the contract were surprised. "Why am I included?" Lyle asked.
"Because you know of my secrets too, blame yourself for still being conscious." Lucia shrugged.Lyle grumbled to himself. "Kids these days..."
"How do we sign?" Amanda asked.
"Insert mana into the contract or a drop of blood." As Lucia instructed, the adults put mana into the contract. Calvin walked up to her and held his hand out and Lucia shook his hand as the third method to sign the contract.
"Please take care of us in the future." Lucia smiled kindly at Calvin.
"Please take care of me too." Calvin replied joyfully before running back to his Mother.
'Kids can be so cute when they aren't taught to stab people.' Lucia smiled wryly. Then she walked around casting [Healing Gust] on each of the three living guards who were wounded and unconscious.
"She really can use healing magic. Son you've picked up quite the treasure for us." Amanda hugged Calvin and kissed his forehead. "Honey why don't we adopt them? A talented ice warrior and a healer with a unique contract spell."
"I think we should observe them a bit longer first. We also don't know if what they have told us the truth or if they are foreign spies." Eric suggested. Lyle and Aegis moved the rest of the bodies off the road along with the broken carriage.
"We got our luggage, let's continue towards Brimmerton since it's the closest town. We'll have to camp out one night." Eric said once everything was taken care of.
The three guards that were healed were also up on their feet, but still wounded. Lucia's current power wasn't strong enough to fully heal them with one heal, but she didn't have the mana to spare on giving them more healing while she had Rikit summoned. The other's didn't ask since it was common knowledge that healing used a lot of mana, and tier 1 mages don't have a lot of mana.
