ELEVEN YEARS AGO:
KIARA'S POV:

My eyes started to flutter open, and my vision was blurry, but there was a figure in front of me, darkness covered their nose, eyes, and the upper part of their face. Until I got my clear vision now, I knew who it was.

"T-Touya?" I called out to him, questioning my answer as to why he was here, in my room late at night.

"Kiara... I'm sorry that I came here all of a sudden," Touya apologized, looking down at the edge of my bed.

I sat myself up, leaning against my bedframe, and that's when I noticed him. His body was covered in bandages, smoke from his body, and a smell of burnt flesh.

"Touya? What happened?" I asked, worried for his own sake that I reached out to him, putting my hands on his shoulders, but he hissed at the touch.

"It's nothing... I was practicing my quirk, but it got out of control, but I promise it isn't always like this." He lied. I knew he was lying about it, but I didn't want to say anything because we'd get into another argument.

"Does it hurt?" I asked.

"Sometimes, but I'll be okay." He smiled at me.

"Do you want some painkillers?" I suggested, getting up from bed, but he grabbed my wrist, making me sit back on the bed.

"No..." He said. "Can I sleep here? With you, for the night? I don't want to go back." He asked, and his eyes were glass.

Since I knew what Touya had told me of what was happening in his house, with all the hatred and abuse, I nodded and opened up my blanket for him to tuck himself in.

My back was facing him, where I was facing the wall.

"How did you get in here anyway?" I asked him, turning over to him to look at him fully.

"You left your window a little open, and I opened it from the outside and jumped inside. Don't worry, I closed it, though." He smiled. We both laughed a little.

"Are you still hurting?" I asked him, but he shook his head-tiredly.

"No, I'm okay now, thanks to you." He smiled.

I hugged him, close. He was surprised by the sudden contact but wrapped his arms around me, resting his chin on my head.

"Thank you, Kiara."

I couldn't forget what would happen at school that day.

My eyes slowly opened, feeling cold. I noticed that the sheets next to me were empty, meaning Touya probably left while I was sleeping.

They were cold, and I felt sadness grow inside of me.

Looking over, I noticed that my window was still a bit open, which probably meant why I woke up so cold—well my room since it was around November.
