I don't regret anything.

When the psychic woke up he was alone, his parents downstairs talking about how much they love each other or something. He didn't have his ring on; everyone's morning thoughts were so loud today. He needed to think. Not bothering with getting up, Kusuo used his powers to find his ring and slip it onto his finger. Now that it was quiet, he could overthink as much as he wanted with no distractions.

First of all, when he fell asleep you were still in his bed, curled up in his blankets. He had exchanged your clothes using his apport ability, giving you some pajamas that just happened to be his. An oversized shirt and sweatpants to be specific. Anyways, considering you weren't in bed means you either just walked out of the house or used your power. He was thinking the latter since it was currently 9 am, and his parents get up quite early. He knew you wouldn't want to run into them.

His eyes narrowed at the ceiling. He was planning to see you today, but what would he even say? The events of the night before were a blur but he still knew what happened, obviously, and he couldn't exactly say he regretted it. But maybe you did. Maybe you were embarrassed or shy about it. He didn't know because he couldn't even hear your thoughts when he first woke up.

What he did know was that he was going to kill Toritsuka.

As soon as he walked downstairs, the psychic got a bad feeling. His mother's face said it all.

Kurumi: Ku-chan! We're going to an onsen with the L/N's today!

She gave him a closed-eyed smile as her son glared.

Kusuo: What.

Kuniharu: Yeah, apparently they've never been to one. I guess living in the city has its downsides, huh, Kusuo.

Kusuo rolled his eyes. It wasn't like he wanted to avoid you, but going to the hot springs right after... that night was simply a bad idea. But how was he supposed to tell his parents that?

Kusuo: I'll stay home.

Kuniharu: Oh c'mon Kusuo I thought you and Y/N got along now? Don't tell me you're too shy now I told you you can use your powers to seduce her.

Kusuo: Keep those thoughts to yourself.

Kurumi: Ooh, does Ku-chan have a crush?

Kusuo: I don-

Kuniharu: Yeah the other day I walked in on them slow dancing like we used to. It was very romantic.

Kurumi: Awww my little Ku is finally getting a girlfriend!

Kusuo: Mom stop crying-

Kurumi: Now we have to go so I can welcome little Y/N into the family!

Kusuo: No.

Kurumi: You're going.

Her face switched up, she wasn't crying anymore. She glared at him and narrowed her eyes, that look that meant nothing good. Kusuo sighed, going back upstairs to get ready. Maybe he could contact you telepathically? He took off his ring, wincing at the flood of thoughts in his head.

'Y/N?'

...

....

No answer. He sighed, annoyed. You were probably busy or ignoring him. Were you mad at him? And why did he always care so much? Why was he so annoyed that he cared so much? All of this was complex and stupid.

Your lively smile popped into his head, your words from the carnival ringing through his mind.

'I'm glad we're close. You bring joy to my life!'

He sighed again, closing his eyes and bringing his fingers to his now warm cheeks. Just stupid.

Mom: Kurumi-chan!

Kurumi: I missed youuu!

The two mothers hugged, crying dramatically as the fathers got out of their respective cars and shook hands. Kusuo rolled his eyes. What a pain.

His gaze landed on the backseat of the L/N vehicle. The door slowly opened to reveal you, a knee-length overcoat on to accommodate the breeze of fall. His breath hitched as you made eye contact. You blinked once, twice. For a second he thought you were going to look away and ignore his existence.

But you smiled instead. That bright, pearly white smile that could put even the sun to shame.

The psychic didn't notice, but he ended up smiling back.

And now you were walking towards him.

Y/N: Hey Kusuo.

She remembers.

He nodded in response. You looked around awkwardly, the wind blowing your hair from your face.

Y/N: So this is a bathhouse, is it? Or are those the indoor ones?

Kusuo: Do you regret it?

He wasn't going to waste any time. He was wearing the germanium ring again, plus, he didn't just want to read your thoughts. He needed to hear it from you. You were taken aback, surprised at his straightforwardness. You looked back at him, wide-eyed. Then you chuckled gingerly.

Y/N: Straight to the point, I guess.

Your smile dimmed a little and you gave him a hopeful look.

Y/N: Do you regret it?

Silence.

Complete silence.

You nodded and sighed loudly, your smile faltering and your face falling. Kusuo felt his heart drop.

Kusuo: Y/N-

Y/N: We should get to the spring now.

With those words, you walked away.
