Chapter 30: Barbecue

Yamaguchi pov:

I can't believe that just happened.

I thought over what had just happened as we walked to the barbecue hand in hand. 

Did she really just kiss me? Did I really just kiss back? Did she really just accept my confession? Did she really like me back this entire time?

Well the answer to all of those questions is yes.

"Tadashi, we're here." She nudged me slightly and tightened her grip on my hand.

I was happy to be with her but slightly worried about the reactions of others. I'm sure that if I told y/n that I was worried she would probably jokingly hit my head and tell me 'don't worry, you're happy and that's all that matters. It doesn't matter what others think, if they can't accept it then they're not worth your time'. She's right. Her advice is always helpful and she'd give it to anyone.

"We need to have our meat war, Hinata!" Bokuto's voice broke me out of my thoughts. Hinata and Kageyama stood with sparkling eyes and watering mouths.

"THANK YOU FOR THE FOOD!" Everyone dug into the delicious food that had been prepared, it was truly delicious.

Y/n looked at me holding a piece of chicken in her chopsticks: "Say aaah!" She popped the chicken in my mouth and it tasted delicious.

I noticed people staring at us, it was Kuroo, Kaori, Yukie, Tsukki, Daichi and Sugawara. They all had different reactions: Kaori, Kuroo and Daichi looked proud, Sugawara was about to cry, Yukie was surprised and Tsukki had some kind of know-it-all look.

Y/n walked off for a minute over to 'mom squad' and I walked over to the steps with Tsukki, Kenma, Kuroo and Bokuto.

Y/n pov:

"Hey Sugawara, Yaku, Akaashi!" I smiled taking a piece of chicken off my plate and placing it in my mouth.

"So y/n I see you and Yamaguchi are together now." Yaku looked at me, chewing on his food.

"I-- How did you know!"

Akaashi was the next to speak:
"Everyone was eavesdropping from outside"

"And you were literally just feeding each other." Suga chimed in.

"It was pretty obvious, then." The three nodded in response.

We talked for a while longer until the food was gone and we'd ran out of things to say. It was getting dark by then so I sat down on the grass and stared at the sky.

"Hey, y/n would you like some watermelon?" I looked to my left to see Tada-chan there with two slices of fresh watermelon.

I took one out of his hand, our fingers touched for a brief moment before we giggled and bit our watermelon slices.

I stared up at the darkening sky then  at my boyfriend then over to the food in my hand.

"Thank you Tada-chan." He smiled at my statement, shuffling closer so he could lean on me.

When we were together like this, time stopped.

I smiled at him before placing my head on his shoulder. He lent his head atop mine and smiled.

"I love you Y/n-chan."

"I love you too Tada-chan. Do you promise we'll stay together forever?"
