That evening Betty lay in Jughead's arms in her bed.

She was very nervous and upset by the news.

She had never thought about dying before and now that the probability was much higher, she was very worried.

All afternoon she acted as if she didn't care and that she trusted in her mother.

But now she doesn't know how to feel.

"What are you thinking about, my love?"

Jughead asked her as Betty lay on his chest, lost in thought.

"I'm worried about something. What if I die? What if my dad kills us all? I'm scared."

A tear trickles down her flawless face.

"Hey, don't think like that. Your mom made sure you'd survive. And I'm not going to let you die, okay? We can do this together."

Jug pulled the young woman closer to him and rested his chin on her head.

"I just want to live a normal life. Without magic, without all these dangers. Just finish high school, go to college with you.

You'll be a writer and I'll be a journalist. We'd just live happily together, maybe have kids someday. It would just be so much easier."

Sighed the blonde.

"A simple happy life. That would be very nice. But we can't change what we are. Maybe we're not normal, but we can still be happy.

If everything goes according to plan, we'll beat your dad at the Alpha Ball.

Eventually we'll take over the pack and then we can live maybe not a normal but a pretty happy life."

"Maybe."

Betty sighed. After a few minutes, she fell asleep.

Jughead played with her hair and thought about his future himself.

How much she had changed since he met Betty.

He had never thought he would ever love anyone as much as he loved Betty, and now he understood why his father was so sad when Betty's mother left him.

Alice was never to blame, but it still hurt him very much.

Now that they all lived together everyone was happier.

But no one could say they were doing well.

Hal, Betty's dad, worried everyone.

But with each passing day they were getting closer to the Alpha Ball and maybe soon they would be able to leave all their worries behind.

Not much later, Jughead was asleep.

A few hours later, Betty woke up.

She wanted to get a glass of water, so she got up without waking Jughead.

Arriving in the kitchen, she opened a cupboard to get a glass when she heard a voice.

"You won't escape me, Betty.

There are only two ways: Either you join me and together we will dominate all magical beings, or I will find another way and you will die."

The young woman dropped the glass and only seconds later Cheryl was standing in front of her.

"Baby B, are you okay?"

"Yeah, no, I-"

With that, she began to cry and, sobbing, tried to explain to her cousin what had happened.

"Hey, hey. Let's go upstairs and cuddle like we used to, okay."

The blonde nodded barely noticeably to give C a sign that she would like to do that.

Chery put her arms around her cousin and carried her upstairs to her room.

A few minutes later, the two were lying between Veronica and Tony.

After a short time, they both fell asleep as well. But little did they know that Betty was in for a sleepless night.
