*A month later*
She finally got home with her mobile device on her hand, and earphones attached on each side of her ears. A voice of a little girl empowered with artificial intelligence which she programmed herself, planned for the incident that changed her life forever. Angie, the name of the sweet voice of someone reflecting her earlier childhood. The feeling of nostalgia hits her, making her chuckle in delight to hear her own child voice once again.
"We already trained this right? And you're doing well so far. No one suspects your perfect act." Angie said through the vessels connecting her voice to Y/N's ears. "Now, Lucifer's approaching you... Now halt."
"I can still see his figure, Angie. Don't worry." She whispered along with her giggles then faced Lucifer at the exact angle she was instructed.
"Why are you late? It's past the curfew." She heard him say with a stern tone, intimidating enough for her to keep on guard.
"Ah, hahaha! I just bought another pair of colored contacts. I need it for work."
"Go see the twins in the kitchen. Aid them for the cooking duty. We'll eat at seven." Lucifer sighed, being passive towards her attitude.
And so she successfully followed another set of instructions just to get herself safely into the kitchen where the twins went to.
"Belphegor, 3 o'clock. Beelzebub's on 2. Good luck." Angie told her master at the beginning of her constant nagging. "The sleeping demon's about to approach you. He's holding a large mixing bowl. I think he's marinating chickens."
"What are we gonna do with the chickens?" Y/N smiled, already knew their height difference to stare at him in the eye, wishing she's right.
"We're having fried chicken for today, Y/N. You may help us prepare the gravy." Beelzebub's voice was heard, sounding bright and happy seeing her. His gleams were evident that proved how he's different among the others. His twin? He was the same cuddle buddy she ever had.
Little did they know that she couldn't see them anymore. If she was to see anything, it'll be only the shadows and the light and the rest were a blur. She cleverly concealed her grey pupils with sets of contact lenses she bought from the eye clinic. Those demons severely damaged her eyesight to the point that it's too late to see the twins' smiles anymore.
Nonetheless, she enjoyed her time with them. The gravy recipe which Beel taught her was permanently painted in her mind and still done it perfectly. And the glutton himself loved her version, buttery and full of spice. Belphegor, on the other hand, was in charge of deep frying and keeping his twin from executing another taste test.
The same demon called her name as soon as he noticed how she struggled on holding her phone, whilst doing the tasks one handed. He held it for her before asking her a question, "Hey Y/N."
"Yes, Belphie?"
"Who's this little girl you're listening to?" He tilted his head with a bewildered expression, having an interest with the girl on the phone staring back at him.
"She's Angie. An AI that I programmed for charitable causes. Do you wanna try and talk to her?" She smiled blankly then hovered her hand towards his ear to plug the earphone. She had a bit of difficulty reaching his height so the raven haired male held her hand to perfectly plug it in. She blushed from the warmth kissing her delicate skin, bringing back the gleams like the daffodils aglow in the spring.
"Hello mister Belphegor, I am Angie. An AI specialized to aid patients with eye deficiencies. How may I help you?" The AI greeted cheerfully, and upon hearing the word 'deficiencies', Belphegor began questioning himself the possible reason why the human decided to make this.
"Oh, your name is Angie. Hmm, I remember Levi told me that she tends to give assistance to blind patients..." Belphegor paused for a while before going on to confirm his speculations. "Are you hiding something from us, Y/N?"
"Huh?? N-No! I... I am not hiding.. anything." The now startled female began to stutter in her own words. "Why would I h-hide something from you guys? I m-mean, you're my best buds right?"
"Y/N"
"R-Right, Angie? I'm okay. I'm fine!"
"Y/N!" Belphegor snatched the phone away from her then walked further away with his twin. "Okay then."
"What? Why? Angie? ANGIE!" Her voice got hoarse with her shouts, beginning to find her way towards nowhere that proved of her blindness. The two males went silent, watching her panic and struggle as she tried to find her way towards their direction. "Where are you? Belphie? Beel? Did you go out? D-Don't leave me... Please."
She squeaked as she tried to hold back her tears. Her frozen hands held her head tightly, slowly falling down to the ground in frustration. And with that scenario, she forced to remove her contact lenses then threw them on the ground. "I DON'T NEED THIS! I DON'T WANT TO BUY ANY OF THESE ANYMORE! I... I just don't want to see everyone's angry faces glaring at me. I only wanted to make everyone happy."
Then she was met by the warmth of the two demons who went closer to her for a tight embrace. A river of tears streamed down her face, ruining the makeup she put earlier. The scars were revealed a bit, shocking the two more as they stare at her utmost vulnerable state.
"Oh Y/N. If you only knew how happy Belphie and I to have you. It really hurts us seeing you like this, not being able to understand the actions of others whose regrets are already too late." Beel's voice softened during his embrace that became tighter, making the girl feel a hint of security. "I wish I could give you my set of eyes just to make you see us smile again."
"Well... Y/N, do I have your permission to tell your confidential condition?" Angie sounded worried as she asked this but was relieved right after seeing her creator finally at ease.
Y/N nodded, entrusting the opportunity to Angie to tell her struggles that inhabited her life for a month now. "Beel, Belphie... I feel like you are the only ones who can understand me. Because I feel like I'm at ground zero."
Both of the twins gazed at her, whose expressions were filled with remorse. Their minds anticipated that she's Angie's first patient — and they're right, she's indeed blind.
"Miss Y/N is a confirmed blind patient. She developed this deficiency after a severe eye damage caused by a blunt object hit directly on her head, a head trauma, and something sharp on her face, hence the scars. You won't notice her scars under her makeup and the contacts she wears. Her vision started to blur when someone spilled a really hot liquid directly on her face... In addition, our patient also developed a self-destructing behavior which led her to severe her condition more."
Beel gasped and was tearing up as he heard this, his guilt surpassing the hunger he's feeling. Their eyes affixed to her grey pupils, lifeless to the core, not as bright as the summer skies like what they used to enjoy to see. Now that they're about to long for it, they wouldn't anymore.
"Why?"
"Now I know how to perceive someone as invisible. But this is just partial, because I can still hear your voices. I want to know how it feels to completely wipe the people's existence around me, just like the others do. I want to understand how it feels to treat someone without care and not to hurt anymore. I long to see both of your smiles right now, Beel and Belphie. I swear, I really do. But I feel a bit at ease right now to see nothing but the shadows and the light."
Her hands tried finding the warmth of the dearest people that surround her. Once she finally met their hands, she pulled them in a tight embrace again. It was then followed by another confusing question, leaving the two shower in emotional pain.
"What will you do if my hearing as well, will be gone too?"
"What do you mean?" Beel asked whose tears were evidently staining his cheeks, pulling away from the hug with his brother. "What do you mean by losing your hearing? Are you tired of our voice?"
Despite the situation wherein she lacked vision, she knew how this demon was adorably pouting in front of her. Y/N chuckled in delight with an assurance but with an underlying deceit inside it.
"I'm just thinking about it. After all, I only lost my eyesight. I can still hear the both of your lovely voices."
Liar.
