Jaden pov (Ash and Raign are 13)

"Dad." Raign asked as she walked into the kitchen.

"Yes baby?" I asked as I turned around to look at her.

"Where's mom?" She asked as she looked down.

"She's not here right now. What's wrong baby?"

"Nothing. I just wanna talk to mom." She said as she tried to walk away.

"Nah, I'm not having that. What wrong baby?" I asked as I grabbed her wrist lightly to stop her from walking away from me.

"I told you I'm fine. I just wanted to know where mom was." She said as she ran upstairs to her room. I sighed knowing that she was a stubborn as Blair when it came to things she wanted, so I decided it would be best to wait for Blair to come home.

I've been sat in the same spot for an hour trying to figure out what's bothering Raign, and it's actually pissing me off that I can't figure it out. I'm so engrossed in my thoughts that I didn't even realise Blair had come home until she straddled my lap and pressed her lips to mine.

"Hey you okay? You seem stressed." She said as she pulled away and rubbed my shoulders slightly.

"Ugh, I don't know. Somethings wrong with Raign and she wouldn't talk to me. She was just constantly asking for you and ran off when I told her that you wouldn't be home for a while and that she could talk to me." I explained as I leaned my head against her shoulder. "I'm just really tired, and I've been trying not to snap at any of them all day." I mumbled as she ran her hands through the hair on the back of my head.

"You need a haircut sir." She laughed as she continued to run her hand through my hair. I laughed at her trying to change the subject.

Many people would call her insensitive for not talking about what's bothering me, but I absolutely love it. She only does it because she struggles with helping people fix their problems, so instead she does what she does best, try and fixate your mind on something else. And nine times out of ten, it works.

"You go and lay down in the bedroom or go and have a bath or something and I will go and see what's wrong with Rai okay?" She said as she kissed my shoulder and the nape of my neck over and over.

"Okay." I mumbled and stood up with her still in my arms. "Here you go Madame." I smiled as I put her down outside Raign's room and walked off to our room.

Blair pov

"Hey baby. Daddy told me you wanted me. What's up?" I asked as I plopped down on her bed.

"I'm scared mommy." She mumbled as she laid next to me. She isn't one for expressing her emotions or calling me mommy anymore something is seriously bothering her.

"Why are you scared baby?" I asked as brought my arm around her.

"Cause I'm dying." She said. Don't laugh it's not funny.

"And why do you think you're dying baby?" I asked as I tried to suppress the laugh that was aching to escape my lips.

"I read somewhere that when you pee blood it means you're dying." She said as she stood up. "Look, it won't stop." She said as she pointed to a little red patch on the bed. Ohhhhhhhhhh-

"Oh baby, you're not dying. That's normal. That's your period sweetheart." I explained as I pulled her to sit back down.

"What's that?" She asked. Oh great.

"Uhm, okay- so remember how when you were little and I was pregnant with Ace?" I asked as she nodded. "Well that meant that the egg I had was able to make a baby. Well your period is just you losing an egg that would feed a baby if you were pregnant." I explained as best as I could. I'm finally getting to do what I wanted my mom to do.

"So I can never have a baby?" She asked as tears came to her eyes. Oh fuck.

"No of course not baby. As a woman, you have millions of eggs. Every month your body goes through a cycle where for three weeks, the egg will sit just below your stomach, and it will wait for you to get pregnant to feed a baby. When you don't get pregnant, that specific egg then no longer has a job to do, so it washes out of your body to make room for the next egg to come along. And then the next month, a new egg will take its place and the cycle will repeat." I explain again.

"So this will happen every month?" She asked as I wiped her tears.

"Yes baby. But don't worry, there are things that mommy can buy for you that will stop you from bleeding through your trousers okay?" I said.

"Okay." She said back to me.

"Why didn't you talk to your dad about it?" I asked as I remembered how hurt Jaden looked earlier.

"Well one of my friends said that it was weird to talk to dad about it because he wouldn't understand what's going on because boys don't get them." She explained as she sighed.

"Well I promise you that daddy definitely knows about it, so if I'm not here and something like this happens in the future, you can always talk to him about it okay?" I told her as I kissed her forehead.

"Okay mom." She smiled.

"Now I'm gonna go and get you some stuff and I'll show you how to use it and stuff. And don't worry about your bed sheets, I've done that plenty of times, I'll be able to get it out." I said as I walked out of the room and into mine where I saw no Jaden so I'm assuming he was in the bath. I walked into the bathroom and saw my husband, with his eyes closed laying in the water.

"Hey." He said without opening his eyes. I sucked my teeth at him in a joking manor, knowing he hates when I do that.

"That's fucking creepy, don't do that." I laughed as he chuckled and sat up, opening his eyes.

"Did you find out what was wrong?" He asked as I sat on the floor next to the bath.

"She started her period and thought she was dying." I explained as I saw hurt flash across his eyes again.

"Why didn't she talk to me about that?" He asked, seemingly himself, but I still heard it and decided to answer.

"She told me that one of her friends told her that because you're a boy, you wouldn't understand what she's going through, which I told her wasn't true and she knows that she can talk to you if I'm not here, or even if I am here." I said as I held onto one of his hands.

"That's not allowed to happen. She's not allowed to grow up too fast." He whined as he leaned back in the water.

"I know, it's scary. But it is what it is. Now if you excuse me, I'll be back." I said I picked up a box of pads and walked towards the door.

"You better be joining me next time you walk in this room." He shouted out to me.

"Shut up." I laughed back as I walked back to Raign's room.
