A New Normal

February 3rd, 1987

Aspen Malfoy has returned back to Hogwarts two days ago and couldn't help but wonder if people knew.

If people knew her mother was truly alive and faked her death all those years ago.

Aspen walked beside Alexandra and Marie as they left Muggle Studies and started making their way towards the library.

"So she's alive? She's at your house?" Alexandra whispered and Aspen nodded.

"She said Oliver's mum kidnapped her and held her hostage up until I found the truth of who my father is," Aspen said as she looked forward and saw Oliver talking with his friends.

"Does he know? Does Oscar?"

"No. Uncle Lucius told Roxanne that she has to stay in the manor until they can sort this out. Because first off, who's body is in that coffin." Aspen whispered as she opened the door to the library and they all stepped inside.

Waiting for them at a table was Ben, Charlie, and Bill.

"Hello love," Bill said to Aspen as he stood up and pressed a kiss to her cheek before pulling a chair out for her.

"Hello everyone," Alexandra said before she sat down beside Ben.

"Alright, we have only been back from break for two days and I already have two eight-inch essays due," Charlie whined as he opened his Divination book.

"No one told you to take Divination Charlie," Ben said with a smirk before they heard a loud scream.

Aspen reached for her wand before she looked forward and saw Oliver walking to them holding what looked like a newspaper.

"Oliver! Why the hell did you scream like that?" Aspen hissed as she stood up and grabbed her little brother's arm before Madam Pince could say anything.

"Have you looked at The Daily Prophet today?"

"No, I woke up late and skipped breakfast. Why? What does it say now?"

"It says your mum is alive and my mum had something to do with her being missing all those years." He said as he trusted the paper into Aspen's hands.

"Oliver," Aspen whispered as she stared at her brother. Oliver's eyes widen when he saw the look on her face.

"Is she alive?"

"Yes. I found out two months ago when she followed me, Tonks, and Marie in Hogsmeade. And over break, she came to the manor to tell her story-"

"Did my mum have something to do with it?! Because ever since you came into my life you have caused problems!" Oliver screamed and Aspen flinched as she knew everyone was watching them.

"Lower your voice, Oliver."

"Or what? I've always wanted a sibling. And then you came and it was nice in the beginning. Then mum left and she hasn't been back."

"What do you mean she hasn't been back?"

"Stay out of this Weasley! Answer my question, Aspen? Did my mum have something to do with your mum missing for all these years?"

Aspen stared at her little brother with tears in her eyes and nodded.

"Yes, your mum told the Aurors that my mother was dealing in black magic. In Dark Magic. They raided my stepfather's manor. He told my mum to run with me. Your mum was there and she hit some spell at my mum and took her away." Aspen explained and Oliver glared at her as he threw the newspaper on the table.

"Oliver!" Aspen cried out as he ran to the door.

"Oliver please!"

But Oliver didn't listen as he tore his way out of the library not looking back or listening to any of his friends call his name.

Aspen stood frozen before Bill wrapped his arms around Aspen and began leading her out of the library.

"The paper. Who wrote the article?" Aspen whispered and Bill froze before he grabbed the paper and opened it.

"Rita Skeeter. She titled it Exclusive: War hero Roxanne Malfoy rises from the dead." Bill said and Aspen laughed.

"My mother wasn't supposed to speak to her. She wasn't supposed to do anything until Uncle Lucius told her too."

Aspen inhaled deeply as her shoulders relaxed and when she opened her eyes she looked around the library.

"What the hell are you all looking at?! Don't you all have your own lives or are they so boring you wait on the edge of your seat for the next screaming match?!" She yelled as she grabbed her things.

Everyone quickly turned to look away and Aspen smirked.

"I need to find Oliver and explain everything to him. And then I need to write to my dad and ask him to come to Hogsmeade." Aspen said as she looked at Marie.

"I'll cover for you in Herbology."

Aspen nodded before she fixed her bag and walked out of the library.

Everyone stared after her, and Ben shook his head.

"How the hell does she remain so calm?"

"She's a Malfoy of course. They can handle anything." Alexandra said with a smirk as she sat back down.

"A Malfoy for now. Until she becomes a Weasley."

"Bill, shut up."
