Truth Part IIMarch 12th, 1986
Aspen Malfoy walked outside along with Bill Weasley, Charlie Weasley, Marie Rosier, and Nymphadora Tonks.
Last month during a short break from school Lucius Malfoy finally told his niece the truth. She was not a Carrow but a Wood.
"So what Roberto was saying was true?" Marie asked and the group began walking up the bridge towards Hogsmeade.
"My step-father's mother wrote to me in December and said I should know the truth. I always knew because they never looked for me or wrote to me before." Aspen said as she reached for Bill's hand.
Bill gladly took Aspen's hand before the group walked into Three Broomsticks. The group of five found a round booth and threw themselves into the booth.
"So are you going to go see him?" Tonks asked as she took her Hufflepuff scarf off.
"I don't know yet. Uncle Lucius said he knows where he lives and will take me during Spring Holiday." Aspen said before Madam Rosemerta walked over.
"Hello, you lot! Butterbeer for everyone?"
"Yes, along with three hot sandwiches," Charlie said and Madam Rosemerta nodded her head before turning and walking away.
"Can I see the picture again?" Marie asked and Aspen nodded as she handed her best friend the photo of her father that she has kept with her in her purse since she got it.
"You have his nose. But everything else is your mums." Marie said and Aspen laughed softly.
"I have a little brother. His name is Oliver. He is about five years old." Aspen said and everyone turned to her.
"Your father is married?" Bill asked and Aspen nodded as she shrugged out of her coat.
"He is happy. It is what my mother wanted. She knew my grandfather would not let him live if he knew." Aspen said before Madam Rosemerta came and handed the five of them their butterbeer. Aspen reached for her sandwich and leaned into Bill's side.
"Are you alright?" Bill whispered and Aspen nodded.
"I thought Roberto only said those things to annoy me. Everyone knows he fancies me. But knowing it's true it is annoying. How did he know?" Aspen whispered and Marie cleared her throat.
"You already know many Slytherin families made themselves loyal to You-Know-Who. My family is one of them. My Uncle, Roberto's father, still talks about the glory days. That is how he knows." Marie explained and Aspen stared at her best friend.
"Roberto is just an arse," Charlie said as he shoved a piece of sandwich into his mouth.
"Stop eating with your mouth full," Tonks said as she kicked Charlie underneath the table.
"Alright, you guys. This is where I leave you guys. I have a date with Peter Grey." Marie said as she placed two galleons on the table.
Aspen waved goodbye to her friend before she finished her sandwich.
"Does anyone ever wonder if you two are dating?" Bill asked Charlie and Aspen snorted as Charlie blushed.
"Tonks is one of my best friends!" He said and Tonks rolled her eyes.
"He says that even though we snogged yesterday." She said and Aspen jumped up.
"Alright! Bill and I are leaving! See you two at dinner." Aspen said as she grabbed Bill's hand and dragged him away from the round booth.
"Maybe I shouldn't have said anything," Bill said as the two of them walked outside and turned to Zonko's.
"Maybe you shouldn't have," Aspen said with a slight smile on her face.
"So since it is just us two. Do you want to go to meet him?" Bill asked as he held the door open for her.
"I want to but I feel like the emotions would get the best of me."
"Why do you think that?" Bill asked as Aspen went towards the stink bombs.
"My mother was well known. My Uncle says when it was her funeral it was open to the public. He didn't come. And if he loved her why didn't he?" Aspen whispered and Bill wrapped his arms around Aspen and held her close.
"It is normal to be angry with parents. It is normal. And you have every right to be angry at him. But also be angry with your step-father's family for bringing this all on you."
Aspen took a deep breath before closing her eyes as she felt the tears build up.
"For a while, I wondered why my father's family never came for me and now I know it's cause he wasn't my father," Aspen whispered and Bill chuckled softly.
"Stop crying. Please." He whispered and Aspen let out a laugh as she shoved BIll.
"I will throw this stink bomb at you right now." She said and Bill chuckled before he grabbed one and began tossing it back and forth between his hands.
"Throw one at me and I will throw one right back at you." He said as Aspen let out a laugh before she turned and rushed to a different aisle.
A big boom came and Bill let out a groan.
"I knew you were going to drop it!" Aspen called out as she held her stomach from laughing.
"Aspen! I'm going to bear hug you and make you smell like me!" Bill said and Aspen let out a laugh.
"No, you won't!"
