Chapter XLVI

The Carrows

May 5th, 1987

Apen Malfoy was grinning ear to ear as she was holding arms with Marie as they exited out of Gladrags Wizeardwear. They both had two bags in each arm.

 They turned left to go meet Bill at Three Broomsticks when Aspen halted at the sight of her step father and step grandmother. 

"Aspen dear. Shopping for summer?" Alexander asked as he let go of his mothers arm. 

Aspen being frozen only pissed Marie off for how they were having her best friend react. 

"What are you two doing here?" 

"Miss Rosier.  I believe this conversation does not concern you." Alexander said as Marie reached for her wand. 

"Anything with Aspen concerns me." 

"Alexander, maybe if you tell them they won't be acting like this." Grandmother Carrow said and Aspen turned to her. 

"Has something happened?" Aspen asked worrying that they knew of her mother being alive. 

"We wanted to see you. The last I saw you, you were still in diapers." Grandmama said. 

"That was your choice Grandmama. Not mine." Aspen said looking the matron of the Carrow family in the face. 

"And what did your dear Uncle Lucius say to you girl? Hmm?" 

"He said he got custody of me. That since Alexander wouldn't put me as a Carrow, with him in prison and my mother dead, I went to my Uncle. He was only nineteen. He did not know what he was doing." 

Aspen stepped away from her best friend and closer to her step family. 

"You could have helped them. You know what it is like to have children. My uncle and aunt did not. I was their first and trial child. Why did you never keep your promise try made my mother?" Aspen asked as she stopped in front of Grandmama. 

"How do you know of that promise child? Are the rumors true? Your mother being alive?" She asked and Aspen turned to Alexander. 

"You didn't tell her? Why? It's not like you loves my mother?"

"I did love her Aspen. But your mother never loved me-" Alexander began before someone cleared their throat. Aspen and Marie turned around to see Professor Snape standing behind them. 

"Malfoy.Rosier. It is time to return back to school." He said and Aspen looked at her watch to see the time has gone by. 

"Severus-" 

Snape held up his hand as his eyes finally gazed towards Alexander. 

"Alexander. Madam Carrow. Congratulations are in order. I hear your daughter just gave birth to twins. Shouldn't you two be with her helping her heal? I heard it was a horrible birth." 

Marie let out a snort before Aspen smacked her with her bags. 

"Still the same aren't you?" 

"Leave, before I say something to Dumbledore and the other Patrons. Then you two won't be allowed to Hogsmeade anymore. " 

Snape turned to the girls and raised an eyebrow. 

"Back to the school. Or I will take ten points from both of your houses." He snapped and Aspen stared at him. 

"Sir?" 

"Go, I believe you have a letter to write." 

Aspen nodded as she fixed her bags before looping her arm with Marie and rushing back to the rode that leads them to Hogwarts. 

"That was weird." 

"Very. Let's see what my Uncle has to say."
