Scare

September 20th, 1986

Aspen was scared.

She was scared she was terrified.

A woman knows her body like the back of her hand and for her to be late in not normal.

As she walked into the Hospital Wing she looked for the Head Healer and not one of her apprentices.

"Have you seen Madam Pomfrey?" Aspen asked the male apprentice who pointed to her office. Aspen nodded her head and turned to the office. She knocked three times before she heard someone yell out enter.

When Aspen stepped into the office she smiled softly when she saw the Head Healer.

"Aspen! This is a shock. Are you alright dear?" Pomfrey asked as she stood up. She stopped when she saw the look on the young girls face.

"What's wrong?" The Head Healer asked as she pulled her wand out and pointed it at the door. It closed and sealed itself so no one could hear in.

"I'm late."

Madam Pomfrey stared at the young girl with wide eyes and couldn't help but think back to when Roxanne Malfoy came in during the middle of her seventh year and said the exact same thing.

She blinked and quickly went into Healer mode.

"How late? I need to know."

"A week. I know it may not sound serious but I am never late." Aspen began to say but Madam Pomfrey held her hand up.

"You are a sixth-year dear. It does get more stressful. When was the last time you were intimate?"

Aspen stared at the Healer for a moment before closing her eyes and thinking back to the end of August when she and Bill were able to sneak away for twenty minutes.

"About three weeks ago." She said and Pomfrey had to hide her facial expression.

"Us being witches it takes so many tests to find out. I need permission from Dumbledore for us to do it a muggle way."

"And if Dumbledore says yes?"

"I need to go to St. Mungos and it could take up to a month and a half to do the muggle testing," Pomfrey explained and Aspen closed her eyes.

"Please do not write to my aunt and Uncle. They will kill me."

Pomfrey stared at the young girl and saw her mother standing right beside her.

"This reminds me of when your mother came to me. She was halfway through her seventh year and was going to get married when she left."

"My mother was pregnant in Hogwarts?" Aspen asked and Pomfrey nodded.

"Yes, she was eighteen and had you when she was nineteen and died when she was twenty if I am not mistaken. I was there when she gave birth to you." Pomfrey explained with a smile.

"I remember guiding your mother through labor and wishing your father was there instead of that horrible Carrow man. When I got the news your mother was killed I cried."

"Did you know when she came that she was pregnant?"

"No, she came a week later and threw up all over bed one." She explained with a smile as Aspen stood up.

"May I get a note for Flitwick? I was supposed to be in his class." She asked and Madam Pomfrey nodded as she pulled a pad out and quickly wrote.

"I would like you to document everything. If you feel sick, weird food cravings, and anything unusual alright?"

"Yes, ma'am," Aspen whispered as she held her hand out for the note. As she gripped the note in her hand she couldn't help but think she was pregnant.

As the door opened and Aspen tried to rush out as quickly as possible. Once she was sure Madam Pomfrey wasn't looking at her anymore she leaned against the wall and thought back to when she spoke to her Aunt and Uncle about her mother's pregnancy.

"How old was my mum? When she had me?" Aspen asked her Uncle as the walked around the garden.

"When she was pregnant with you? I believe eighteen or nineteen years old. But she practically raised me so she seemed older." Lucius commented as he looked at the flowers.

"Was grandfather upset that she was pregnant?"

"At first yes. But he died when your mother was in the early stages of her pregnancy. Why do you have these questions, Aspen?"

"Aunt Cissy made a comment when I was in Paris about my relationship with William. We are getting older-" She began and Lucius smiled softly as he nodded.

"You are getting older but I trust you to make good decisions. What did your Aunt say?"

"Aunt Cissy said, We do not need you making the same mistake your mother did."

"You are not a mistake. You have never been a mistake. Your mother was so happy to have you. Do not believe that you are a mistake." Lucius firmly said as he stopped walking and looked at his niece.

Aspen looked at her Uncle for a moment before bowing her head.

"Yes, Uncle."

"Fuck."

Aspen quickly made her way to the Great Hall just as everyone was coming from their classes and were heading to lunch.

"Are you alright?" Someone asked and Aspen looked to see Roberto.

"Why do you care?"

"I can be nice you know. I'm not mean."

"I beg to differ Roberto. You were the one who told me the father who was in jail isn't my father and ruined my family." Aspen said as she turned to the boy.

"I honestly thought you should know. In my family, we don't keep lies. Marie can tell you that." Roberto stated with a smile.

"You are an arse at times you do know that right?"

"I do know that. But I am trying to make everything better. That is why I walked up when I saw you. I want to be friends Aspen, I see you are madly in love with Weasley which I will never understand." Roberto began and Aspen raised an eyebrow at him.

"You trying to be nice but insulting my boyfriend at the same time."

"Alright let me restart. I want to be friends, we used to be friends before Hogwarts."

Aspen stared at him for a moment and nodded.

"We were. So if we are taking the high note I'm inviting you to the first party at Gryffindor tower."

"When is it?"

"The fifth. Let the person at the door Aspen said you could come." Aspen said before she spun on her heels and walked into the Great Hall and towards the Gryffindor Table.
