Summertime Part I

July 6th, 1985

Almost a month since Aspen left Hogwarts and not much has changed. Aspen helped take care of her baby cousin Draco more than ever now.

She finally knew how Bill felt helping with his siblings.

Aspen held Draco's hand as they walked down the many stairs in the manor before arriving in the dining hall.

Aspen wore a bright yellow tank top along with light blue shorts and she paired it with yellow flip-flops.

"Mummy?" Draco asked as they stepped inside and Aspen looked around to see if her Aunt and Uncle were around but Aspen shook her head.

"Sorry, bub. Mummy and Daddy are not here." She said as she lifted up the tiny child and placed him in his chair before she sat down beside him. The elves quickly came in and handed the two their lunch before she heard laughter.

"Draco! Where are you?" Narcissa's voice rang out before both her and Lucius Malfoy came into the dining room.

"Ah! There you two are! Where is your nanny?" Narcissa asked as she rushed over to her son and picked him up.

"I sent her home. I told her she doesn't need to be here when I am here." Aspen said as she lifted up her glass of water and took a sip of it.

"Why would you do that?" Lucius asked his niece as he sat down.

"Because sometimes Uncle children would much rather be with their family members and not strangers." Aspen retorted before she stood up and pushed her chair in.

"Bambi! I'll take my lunch on my balcony." Aspen called out and her young elf came and took the food away.

"What do you plan on doing today, Aspen?" Narcissa asked trying to solve the issue.

"I am almost done with all my Potions work. I have one more essay to write before I move onto my Charms homework." Aspen listed as she thought of the homework waiting for her.

"Remember to finish all of your homework before your vacation with Marie."

"Marie Rosier? Pureblood yes?" Uncle Lucius asked and Aspen tightly made a fist before nodding.

"Yes, a pureblood Ravenclaw. We are always competing for who is the best." She said thinking to the two of them always studying together.

"Good, you need to associate yourself with more purebloods. And not those filthy blood traitors." Lucius spat and Aspen jumped up earning everyone to freeze.

"Being a blood traitor is nothing to me! They are my friends and unless you wish to lose me like you lost my mother than you will stop saying those things!" Aspen screamed and Draco let out a little whimper.

"Aspen, I have never seen you act like this before," Lucius said and Aspen scoffed.

"Because I always have to be perfect around you Uncle. I am tired of being perfect. You know what? I want to enjoy my life again."

Aspen turned on her heel and made her way up the stairs to her room

Aspen turned on her heel and made her way up the stairs to her room.

The door opened and Aspen smiled when she saw her elf, Bambi.

"Do not worry Mistress Malfoy. It will be alright." Bambi said as Aspen sat on one of her sofa's and began eating her lunch.

"It will never be alright with me living here Bambi," Aspen whispered as Bambi leaned up and brushed some of Aspen's hair back.

"It will. Now Bambi will finish cleaning your room and bathroom before going back to the kitchen." Bambi stated as she went back into the bathroom.

Aspen watched her for a moment before going back to her lunch. Once she was finished the tray disappeared and Aspen stood up and walked over to her nightstand where the photo of Roxanne Malfoy laid.

"Oh, mummy. How I wish you were alive." Aspen whispered as she traced over the photo of her mother smirking.

There would be days that Aspen wondered how her life would be if her mother was still alive.

If she would still live in a manor.

Would her mother still speak to her brother?

Then finally, would Aspen's father be in her life?

A knock broke Aspen out of her thoughts and in came Draco with his mother Narcissa.

"I see you finished lunch. I wanted to make sure you were alright." Narcissa said and Aspen nodded.

"Yes, I was going to begin packing for my trip with Marie." She said and Narcissa smirked.

Aspen wouldn't truly be with Marie. She would be with the Weasley's of course.

"Of course. I think it was about time you snapped on your Uncle." Narcissa said as she helped Draco climb onto Aspen's bed where he curled up in the middle.

"I do as well. I am just so tired of this Auntie. I wonder at days if my father would come out of the blue and take me." Aspen said and Narcissa patted the young girl's cheek.

"You have heard the rumors?"

"That the man on my birth certificate may not be my father? Yes, I have."

"Maybe next year when you are a bit older I will tell you all that I know. Rest my dear. Summer isn't quite over yet."
