Chapter XX

Hogsmeade

December 1st, 1986

Aspen held her coat and scarf close to her as she walked arm and arm with Marie and Tonks to Hogsmeade.

The Yule Ball was only twenty-three days away and none of the girls had any dresses. Just last night Bill had handed Aspen a bouquet0 of forget-me-nots and had asked her in front of the entire Great Hall to be his date. Of course, she had said yes.

"Is your aunt going to be here?" Marie asked as the three of them walked into the shop and was greeted by elves.

"Her aunt has been waiting here for twenty minutes for you three to show up." A voice said earning all three girls to look towards the chairs and see Narcissa Malfoy sitting with her coat drapped over her chair.

"Aunt Cissy!" Aspen said as she broke apart from her friends and rushed into her aunt's arms. Narcissa Malfoy smiled down at her niece and held her tight before pressing a slight kiss to her forehead.

"Hello, Aspen darling. Now, aren't you going to introduce me to your friends?" She asked and Aspen nodding.

"Aunt Cissy this is Marie Rosier, my best friend. And then this is Nymphadora Tonks but we all call her Tonks." Aspen explained and Narcissa's blue eyes turned to the young girl with pink hair.

"Tonks? As in Edward Tonks?" She whispered and Tonks nodded.

"Yea, that's my old man. Do you know him?" Tonks asked as elves began bringing forward dresses. Narcissa inhaled softly before nodding.

"He married my older sister Andromeda. I am your Aunt, Nymphadora." She whispered and all three girls froze as they stared at Narcissa.

"So I and Aspen are related?" Tonks whispered and Narcissa nodded.

"Through marriage only. But enough of that. We are here for shopping. Do you two have dates?" She asked as she placed a strapless blue dress in Aspen's arms.

"I'm going with Charlie Weasley! He asked me this morning." Tonks said with a smile as she walked towards a black lace dress.

"I'm going with Andrew Flint. Just to piss off my cousin Robert." Marie said and Narcissa chuckled thinking of Roxanne doing the same thing.

They all heard a curtain move and out stepped Aspen in the blue dress.

"Woah Malfoy! Bill won't be able to take his eyes off you." Tonks said as an elf ushered her into a changing room.

"What do you think Auntie?" She asked and once Narcissa laid eyes on Aspen her eyes filled with tears.

"That's the one for you. My goodness, you look so much like your mother right now." She whispered and Aspen giggled.

"Did Uncle Lucius send the money?"

"Do not worry. He sent it but I shall pay for this. Change back into your normal clothes and we can help Marie with her dress. I believe Nymphadora looks beautiful in the black gown." She stated and Aspen grinned.

"I can't believe she's my cousin!" Aspen said before she turned around and went back into the dressing room. Carefully putting her dress back on the hanger and coming out of the room she walked towards her aunt.

"I didn't know you had a sister," Aspen whispered and Narcissa nodded as she watched Tonks and Marie walk around.

"I have two older sisters. Bellatrix and Andromeda. I am the youngest. Bellatrix married a horrible man and earned her a ticket to Azkaban." Narcissa began and Aspen raised an eyebrow at her aunt.

"Andromeda married a muggle. And my father banned us from ever speaking or having contact with her. I didn't even know she had a child." Narcissa whispered before she stood up and walked to Marie who held an icy silver gown.

"Stop. You girls have found your dresses. Now give them here so I can pay for them." She said and both Tonks and Marie raised an eyebrow.

"You'll pay for our dresses?" Tonks asked and Narcissa nodded.

"Least I could do. Now give me those dresses girls." She said as she held out her hand. Once the three girls handed the dresses to Narcissa and she walked away.

"I wonder why my mum never told me about my aunt," Tonks whispered and Aspen stared at her new cousin.

"Their father, your grandfather, banned them from seeing your mum. Because she married a muggle man." Aspen whispered and Marie raised an eyebrow.

"Pureblood men annoy me." She hissed and Aspen rolled her eyes trying to keep her laugh in.

"So I probably shouldn't write to mum and tell her that I've seen her sister?"

"Probably not. Unless you want to see a howler arriving before the ball." Marie said and the girls started laughing before Narcissa arrived back with a smile.

"The dresses have been magically altered and sent up to your dorm rooms. Now if my memory serves me correct why don't we go have lunch at the Three Broomsticks?" She offered and Aspen smiled at her aunt.

"Of course Auntie. We would be delighted to." Aspen said as she smiled up at her aunt.

"Well then let us get a move on. It's snowing again and I don't want any of you to catch a cold."
