Mom, where's grandma?"I dragged my feet, rubbing my eyes tiredly.
"In the yard." My mother continued cooking, was she still mad at me? I kept my thoughts to myself, walking towards the door. How long had I slept? It couldn't have been that long, when I got home the sky was barely turning blue, it was still morning, maybe mid-day? Sunlight poured into the room as the door creaked open, the intense light blinded me, it was my grandmother.
"Good Morning Grams." I smiled as she met my eyes,
"Good Morning Beautiful!" My grandmother smiled, extending her arms out, I tucked my head over her shoulder, squeezing her tight.
"Am I still in trouble?" I whispered into my grandmothers ear, hoping my mother wouldn't hear me.
"Yes." My mother answered my question, her face still turned away from us.
"But mom!" I tore away from my grandmother, facing my mothers position. "I wasn't doing anything wrong!"
"I told you I didn't want you playing with that thing anymore its dangerous!" My mother snapped, I watched her blue eyes widen with anger as she spoke.
"Its not dangerous, I know what I'm doing."
"Quinn please." My mother turned her face away, placing her hand over her eyes. "Are you going to tell me where it is or not?" I stayed quiet, resulting in a long sigh. "Just go get Dr Jeager for your Grandmothers appointment."
" Dear, I thought my appointment was tomorrow."
"I know, but we have something to do tomorrow." My mother seemed to hint at my grandmother.
"Oh." My grandmother seemed to understand suddenly, "Well hurry along Darling, I believe Dr Jeager has another patient today." I nodded slowly, what was going on here? I began to walk out the door when my mother stopped me,
"Wait, take these to Mrs Jeager." My mother reached into the pantry pulling out a bag of apples, you're father got lucky with these yesterday, he wanted Dr Jeager and his family to have some as well." I nodded taking the bag, it was a bit heavier than I thought, I pulled it over my shoulder, grunting a bit. "Hurry back, the food will be ready soon."
"Yes ma'am." I walked out of the house, the bag of apples on my back. I watched my mother through the window making sure she wasn't looking, then darted for the back of the house. I put down the sack of apples and lifted the rock off of the black clothing my grandmother had secretly made me. Ever since she found out about my 'adventures' she wanted to make sure that I didn't get caught, and this clothing made sure of that. I pulled the long-sleeved shirt over my head, then pulled up the fabric over my face, after a suggestion from me, my grandmother made it able to cover my face and tight enough to where I could tuck in my braid, she even sewed in padding. I bent down grabbing my boots from behind the large tree near the house.
I didn't understand why my mother always got mad when I did this, if I wanted to be in the scouts, then I had to practice. I pulled my laces tight, making sure the boots were on correctly, wouldn't want them to fall off and hit someone in the head again. "Alright." I stood from my squatting position, I was ready, I placed my hands on the rough bark and pulled as I pushed off of the base of the tree with my foot. Birds that had just been chirping now scattered at my sudden movement. I gripped the tree hard, did mom hear that? I stayed still for a bit then continued to climb. I grunted, pulling myself up onto the thick branch that stretched over my roof. I walked along it until I ran out of branch, now the hard part. I straddled the branch and leaned down wrapping my arms around it. So far so good, I loosened my grip, allowing my weight to shift. "Ok cool, upside down now." I let my legs relax, dropping them as I hung on with my hands. Now drop. CLINK, I winced, landing on the red tiles as quietly as possible was hard, I waited for a moment, did she hear that? Remaining in my crouched position I advanced towards my neighbors roof, I began running, I needed to get momentum to try to do it without the gear. I thrust myself into the air, flipping once, before sticking the landing. "Yes!" I smiled, continuing to run. I came to the house where I left it, picking it up from behind the chimney, I strapped myself in, double-checking everything. Good to go. I had to get to the Jaegers home swiftly, then maybe I would have spare time to practice. I shot the grapple hooks into the next house down, "Ok you got this, just like last time, the wind caressed my face. I pulled the trigger, I was off of my feet in a second, flipping and turning as I went from roof to roof. My 'makeshift' Manuever gear had a bit of malfunctions, but nothing I couldn't fix, I had only fallen badly about five times, which Dr Jeager treated me for, usually a broken arm or sprang-ed ankle nothing too bad. I soared through the air, flipping excitedly. Dammit! Was that Dr Jeager's house already? I sighed slowing down, I dropped down behind a house tucking my things away in a nearby crevice, between a house and a tree. I combed my fingers through my hair, taking the bag of apples off of my back. I walked to the door and knocked. Mrs Jeager opened the door,
