"HHEELLPP!" A throaty scream penetrated my eardrums, shit. I unmounted Aries, using my gear to gain acceleration, I swung around a large tree finding Garret being lifted into the air, while other scouts scrambled for their lives, titans closing in on them. I increased my gas intake, slicing through the Titans fingers, freeing Garret, then swung back around to the nape and sliced the chunk of pink flesh from the Titan. I turned my attention to the other squad members, saving the ones I could. After ten other titans had fallen I rounded up the survivors.

"Quinn?" I turned around in shock,

"Luke? What are you doing here? I thought you were with the cart convoy!?"

"I was, got cut off by an abnormal. That was the second flare they set off, the first one brought me here." Luke unmounted his horse, eying the others. "Where were you?"

"In the front with the Command, they left all of you out here?" I turned my attention to Garret, who was sitting on the floor, holding his head in his hands.

"We were cut off from our group, the rest of us-." Garret choked, his shoulders shaking. I looked up, only nine of us, including myself. I knew some of them from my graduating class, along with Brooke, Garret, and Luke, Catherine Williams, Emily Holmer, and Garner ark were also alive and breathing. The other three I didn't know.

"Is anyone seriously injured?"

"Garret has a broken ankle." Luke shot me a worried look, dammit, there was no way we could walk back but if Garret's ankle was broken like Luke said, it would be hard for him to use the gear effectively.

"You can ride on Aries, we need to get the extra gas off of the dead." Garret's head shot up,

"What?!" Garret attempted to stand, failing miserably. "You want us to take from the dead?!"

"They have no use for it Garret, we do." I pulled my brows together as Garret opened his mouth.

"She's right." We all turned our attention to Emily as she spoke, her voice was low and a bit shaky, "We need to do with what we have."

"Oh God." One of the other survivors was on the floor, rocking steadily as the other two seemed to stare off into space, their sanity slowly slipping away.

"This is insane." Garret clenched his fists as sweat raced down the side of his face.

"If you want to mourn for them that's fine but don't let your feelings get in the way of your survival." I walked around Garret to one of the many deceased, removing their gas tanks, I paused, looking up at the girls blood spattered face. "I'm sorry I wasn't fast enough." I sat the girl up, removing her jacket. "Take their jackets, for their families." I shouted over my shoulder to the others as they gathered gas tanks.

"Where are we going to put these?" Catherine repositioned the a few tanks on her shoulders,

"We can put them on Aries for now, is anybody else wounded?"

"Emily hurt her wrist, I'm not sure how badly, and that girl over there," Catherine motioned to a girl with short blond hair and small angry gray eyes, " her name is Lynn, she fell from a tree, I'm pretty sure her leg is broken, other than that I think we're all good." I nodded,

"The other two?"

"Rachel and Joseph, they're fine."

"Are your horses around?"
