"It's Aptitude test time!" Shardis screams faded into the background as I focused on Logan who was talking to Lily, they seemed awfully close, maybe there was some sort of relation? I was shaken out of my thoughts when his green eyes locked with mine, but this time instead of halting his speech or motioning Lily to stop talking, a smile spread across his face as he raised his hand to wave at me. My chest tightened as my stomach leaped. I immediately tore my gaze away from him, anger rising from within me at how cocky he was getting. "What is your major malfunction, Yeager?" Shardis' voice pulled me back to the present. I pulled my brows together in disbelief, what the hell was Eren doing?! "Pull yourself upright!" Eren's face showed disbelief as he swayed, his posture not improving one bit. "Lower him, next!" Shardis continued his walk to another area where others were being tested.

"I don't understand what I'm doing wrong!" Eren snapped as Armin tried to console him.

"You were probably just nervous, you'll get it next time, you just need more practice."

"Maybe we can practice more after everyone's left." Mikasa's glare cut through the snickering faces of the surrounding cadets.

"Enough!" I walked through the cadets, "Shardis is dismissing you all, get a move on." The crowd had barely begun to thin when Eren spoke,

"Can we stay after a little longer?! Please! I really need to get this!" His eyes seemed to widen with every word.

"Eren, calm down." Armin wrapped his arms around one of Eren's, his efforts having little effect.

"You're allowed to stay out as long as you like as long as it doesn't conflict with your curfew."

"See, you have nothing to worry about-." Armin's words were cut off when another voice called out.

"Quinn!" Logan was still hooked up and hoisted in the air, struggling to get down. I walked his direction in confusion.

"What are you still doing up there cadet?!" At my question Logan let a dashing smile spread across his face.

"Well, it seems that answering a question gets you in trouble around here."

"Mhm," I watched Logan lean in different directions in an awkward motion in order to keep himself upright, "you sure you weren't talking back? Cause I think that would make a difference."

"The instructor asked me if I felt comfortable up here, I told him that I could fall asleep up here if I wanted to." Logan smiled up at the sky then looked back down at me, "I don't think he got the joke."

"No, he wouldn't have they don't speak jerk."

"Well lucky me, it seems you do." At his response, I fought to keep my jaw from hitting the floor.

"Yup, sweet dreams!" I turned on my heel, done with his sass when he called out again, this time more desperate than the last.

"Wait! I didn't mean that I'm sorry, please get me down." I turned around to find him staring at the ground beneath him, his hands clamped around the wires that supported him. A genuinely worried look plastered to his face.

"Are you-?" I fought the small laugh threatening to escape my lips, "Are you afraid of heights?

"No, I just don't like being suspended in the air with no way to get down. That's a pretty rational reaction." At his excuse I allowed a small smile to find itself on my face as I walked over to the lever and began cranking it, lowering him to the ground. "You're a lifesaver." Logan exhaled as his feet met the ground.

"So you want to explain to me why you were outside the walls and you're barely now a cadet?" The question just rolled out of my mouth as if I was just asking him what his favorite color was. Logan's shoulders stiffened a bit before I could correct myself he turned to me a hint of a smile tugging at his mouth.

"I already got into trouble today for answering one question," Logan came closer to me, his tall stature causing me to tilt my head up, "think I'll take that as a lesson learned and keep my mouth shut." And with that, he walked away from me and towards the mess hall.

"Why are you really here?" The words left my mouth as a whisper as I watched the now setting sun ignite his red colored hair. It was a beautiful color considering the way the sun complimented it so well was a plus, and his eyes, I don't think I've ever seen eyes that green. I pulled my brows together at my thoughts, it's not like his looks mattered, he was still a potential threat, and I was still somehow not treating him as such, that was about to change though. Tomorrow was hand to hand combat and I was looking forward to seeing how much of a fight he could put up.
