TWO HOURS LATER

"One more time Jamie, you got this!" I began hooking Jamie back onto the machine as she breathed in deeply.

"Ok, ok, I got this."

"Remember, balance your weight evenly between legs and the straps on your belt, it's best if you keep your shoulders straight, bring your upper body forward just a bit." I placed my hand on Jamie's shoulder, giving her a slight adjustment. "When you come off of the ground just focus on keeping your feet under you, if you do all that, you should pass."

"Okay, balance weight, straighten shoulders, keep my feet under me, got it." Jamie nodded downward as she eyed her feet, I nodded confidently, walking away from Jamie. "Quinn?" I turned back around to Jamie swiftly, my braid swinging from the momentum.

"If I don't pass, will you-."

"Stop." I shook my head at Jamie, "You're going to pass." I walked to the crank swiftly before her confidence faltered completely. I began turning the crank, we were supposed to be in our barracks about an hour ago, getting caught out here at this time would not be the best thing. Jamie's feet lifted off of the ground, her hands jerking in different directions, trying to find a steady balance,

"Your shoulders!" I spoke to Jamie, eying her poor posture, Jamie's shoulders straightened at my words, I smiled as she began to balance.

"I'm doing it?!" Jamie's voice rose in volume,

"Jamie keep it down!" I whispered harshly, looking around hurriedly.

"I FREAKIN' DID IT!" Jamie thrust both her hands in the air as her voice bellowed.

"Hey!" My stomach tightened, you've got to be kidding me. A figure with a lantern began to take form out of the darkness, oh shit was that?! I ran to Jamie, unhooking her as fast as I could.

"Wait wait, lower me first! Lower me-! Ooff!" I began to panic, picking up Jamie from the floor. "What the hell is your problem?! It's just an instructor-." Jamie's words halted as her eyes darted behind me, her face paling. Dammit.

"Where are you two idiots supposed to be?" I tensed my shoulders, turning around to meet eyes with Captain Levi.

"Sir!" I saluted, Jamie eyed me for a few seconds then saluted, dammit Jamie. "We were practicing for the aptitude test tomorrow, we're sorry if we disturbed you, sir!" Levi's eyes darted between Jamie and I.

"I assume you two know its past curfew, you should be in your barracks by now."

"Well, you're out," Jamie spoke freely, not remembering who it was we were talking to, I turned my gaze to Jamie as her hands flew to her mouth. Dammit, Jamie! Levi blinked,

"Since you two are already disobeying your curfew, you two idiots can spend the rest of the night cleaning the mess hall." I watched Levi's eyes pierce through mine as his scowl intensified.

"I will never be able to eat in here again!" Jamie grimaced as she picked up an old rotting apple core.

"Oh shush!" I shook my head as I slung a trash bag over my shoulder, damn this crap smelt bad.

"Aaltonen." Jamie and I turned around swiftly to Levi's voice.

"Captain." We both straightened our backs, saluting as he walked swiftly to our position. "Come to my office."

"B-both of us?" Jamie shifted her gaze between me and the Captain, sweat forming on her brow.

"No, Aaltonen just you."

"Yes, sir." I nodded as he passed me, turning on my heal to follow him. Did I do something wrong? Was it something I said when I ran into him and Hanji earlier today?! My nerves increased with each step we took. Levi stepped into his office, holding the door open for me, I walked in hurriedly, Levi shutting the door behind me.
