Survival

Luke raced behind the gates, speeding through the numerous scouts that were more than a celebratory mood, happy to finally be home. "Emily hang on, I'm hitting full speed." 

"Where are we going?!"

"To HQ, Quinn needs help." Luke pulled his brows together, pushing his horse to the limit, "She needs her Captain." Petra swept the floor, her eyes tearing up a bit,

"You alright Petra?" Eld halted his dusting, placing his hand on her shoulder.

"She just-." Petra's voice shook as the whole squad stopped what they were doing, bowing their heads,"She was a good kid." Gunther nodded, his eyes on the floor.

"Little Brat." Levi furrowed his brow as he slowed his dusting. A loud knocking came from the door causing Petra to jump, Petra walked to the door swiftly, opening it to reveal Luke, looking out of breath. The large man saluted,

"Captain!" Levi stepped forward, pulling down his cleaning mask,

"What is it?"

"Quinn Aaltonen is alive sir! She's at the wall, fighting Titans as we speak!" Petra dropped her broom. 

I thrust my weight down, ending another Titan, I landed harshly, dropping to my knees, heaving as sweat rolled down my brow, all of that, to die here? Right in front of home? I was running low on gas again, and wouldn't make the trip up the wall. The ground shook as the drop of sweat fell onto my hand, dammit, where those damn Garrisons?! I stood up slowly, heaving as I lifted up my blades, one more, just-. Three more Titans emerged from behind the trees all around me. Dammit I really was going to die here, wasn't I? Maybe I deserved it, I let my shoulders slump, throwing my head back as I groaned. 

 "Hey, do you need help?!" I turned my head to the wall finding a Garrison climbing down the wall to my aid. "Look out!" I turned my eyes back to the five meters salivating tongue, a sudden force from my right shifted my weight sending me to the floor just as the titan chomped down on the air where I had just been standing. I jumped up, pushing the Garrison to the ground and tightening my grip on my blades.

"Are you crazy?! Do you want to die?!" I yelled over my shoulder to the Garrison as I eyed the titans surrounding us.

"You're kidding right?! I just saved your life!"

"Yeah and possibly ended yours!" I shot off the ground taking care of the titans closest to us. I skidded to a stop as titans fell around us. I turned toward the Garrison finding him slicing a titan's nape with his gear, the titans head yanked back from the fatal wound as it fell forward. I pulled my brows together, a Garrison taking out a titan?That was a bit rare. He landed a bit harshly, huffing. 

"I just-! I just did that!" The brown eyed boy smiled widely, his gaze darting between his blades.

"Yeah great job." I clutched the Garrisons hand in mine sprinting for the wall, where the hell did Aries go?! "Listen I'm just about out of gas, and I think my horse ran off-!" I turned around swiftly, my eyes widening as the Titan closed the distance, I pulled the Garrison in towards me, wrapping my arm around his waist, and shot up towards the wall with what gas I had left. "Use your gear to hang from the wall!" The Garrison obeyed, shooting his grapples into the wall, just as I ran out of gas. At this realization the Garrison attempted to get a grip on me but failed, I drew in a breath as my stomach dropped, I watched helplessly as I fell from the Garrisons grasp, falling down the wall towards the horde of titans below. Dammit, I came all this way.. to go out like this? .... No. I lifted my head up, staring down at the titans as I raced towards them. I drew my blades, if this was how I was going to go, I was going to go fighting. A blast of wind shot from my left, another blast from my right, then from my left again. Captain Levi? I continued to fall, frozen in shock as the squad effortlessly took down the Titans. Large hands gripped on to me, rescuing me from the hard ground that was now right under me. I looked up finding my comrade. "Eld!"

"Quinn!" Eld landed, attempting to balance the extra weight as the last Titan fell. Before I could react Eld was embracing me, tighter than I thought possible. I suppressed a growl as Eld released me allowing me to breath, then I was suffocated again, this time by Gunther.

"Whoa!" Gunther pushed his face back away from me "Someone needs a bath!"

"Or two! You look like hell Kid." Eld smiled widely.

"Gee Thanks." I shook my head at the two as Petra came running, her eyes spilling over with tears of joy. I braced myself, Petra hit me full force, knocking me off my balance a bit. I pulled my brows together, grimacing as she squeezed my bruised body.

"We're so glad you're safe! We thought you were gone!" Petra pulled away, her eyes running me over before embracing me again. Petra chuckled, "Wow, you really do smell!"

"Thanks." I laughed. I did it, most of us were going to live. At this, I remembered the Garrison, I snapped my head to where I last saw him, to find him still hanging from the wall his brows pulled together in confusion.

"Impressive." Auruo spoke smugly his hand plugging his nose. "But I would've come back not smelling like a dead animal." I smiled sadly, hugging Auruo tightly, "What are you doing?! Get off of me you stinky little brat!" The squad chuckled a bit, I pulled away watching Auruo smile, "Spoiled kid." Auruo laughed, roughing up my hair.

"Aaltonen." I turned, facing Levi, my hair still in my face. 

"Captain!" I saluted swiftly, watching Levi eye me over,

"Good work."Levi nodded in approval.

"Thank you Captain." There was silence for a bit as the squad eyed me.

"Its going to take more than a handkerchief to clean you up this time."

"A lot more." Eld laughed a loud, causing the others to join in. 

"That your horse?" Gunther leaned around me, as I turned to find Aries racing back towards us from the tree line.

"Yeah." I smiled a bit as Aries gained speed.

"How about we get you home?" Petra smiled widely.

"Yeah, home sounds great." I smiled, some joy within me, then remembered those who didn't make it. 

"Why the long face kiddo?" Eld eyed my face over, I turned my gaze away from the others, facing Aries who was now slowing to my side. I eyed the stained jackets on Aries' saddle. 

"I couldn't-." My throat tightened, as warm liquid spilled from my eyes, I clenched my fists, "I wasn't strong enough." Petra's arms wrapped around me, 

"Let's just get you home okay?"
